Paul Grabowski

Paul Grabowski has been involved in various facets of business development, marketing, media relations, communications, administration, and operations for over 20 years.  In 2012, he was named as one of the “Top 250 Private Company CMOs” by an industry leading executive rankings service. For the past 11 years, his focus has been in the legal and professional consulting arena. In 2015 he co-authored “The ABC’s of Legal Marketing” which is available on Amazon.

Over his career, Paul has been responsible for the creation and implementation of marketing and branding campaigns, media relations, operations and administrative efforts, business development and training programs and the creation of several Internet and intranet projects.  His work on behalf of three firms has been recognized within the legal marketing community having received multiple awards from the Legal Marketing Association (LMA), for website design, promotional materials and advertising campaigns. Additionally, his re-branding efforts earned one firm the “Legal Standard of Excellence Award” from the Web Marketing Association of America.

Prior to his work in the legal industry, Paul served as a project manager in corporate communications for Reliant Energy, Inc. Before his to his foray into the Fortune 500 arena, Paul honed his business skills while working for the Chicago Bears and Houston Oilers of the NFL as well as at the NCAA Division I collegiate athletic level and in private sports & entertainment facility management. He currently maintains his license as an attorney in the state of Texas.

Cynthia Voth
Director of Business Development & Administration
Miller Nash Graham & Dunn LLP

Cynthia Voth is Director of Business Development and Administration in the Seattle office of Miller Nash Graham & Dunn—a 160-attorney firm, based in the Northwest. She works with practice teams and individual attorneys to develop their business development strategies and interfaces with all departments at the firm to oversee the administration of the Seattle office. Prior to her current position, she was the Marketing Director of Graham & Dunn where she was responsible for all aspects of the firm’s marketing and business development initiatives, including helping form new practice teams, rebranding collateral, and developing the firm’s award-winning website. Cynthia has over twenty years of marketing and management experience, with nine years in legal and the balance in corporate banking, small business, and non-profit. 

Cynthia served as Chapter President of the LMA Northwest Chapter in 2014 and has been a member of the LMA Nominating Committee and the 2016 Annual Conference Advisory Committee. She lives in Seattle with her husband and two children and has been a youth recreational soccer coach for thirteen years, from which experience she draws many parallels and inspirations for how to work more effectively with attorneys and practice teams.

Jill Weber

Jill Weber is Chief Marketing and Business Development Officer for Stinson Leonard Street, where she created Fast Forward®, a nationally recognized revenue program. Jill appears on the NLJ “50 Business of Law Trailblazers & Pioneers;” was recognized as an “Unsung Legal Hero” by Minnesota Lawyer; and has received 22 local and national LMA “Your Honor” awards. She serves on the LMA Board of Directors. She attended Harvard Law School’s “Leadership in Law Firms” executive education program.

Brian Dickson

Brian Dickson is the Director of Marketing for McDonald Carano, a commercial law firm with offices in Las Vegas and Reno. Prior to entering legal marketing, for more than a decade Brian served as an executive for The Walters Group, which is owned by entrepreneur and high-stakes gambler, Bill Walters. Working at the center of Nevada development, Brian became highly familiar with and appreciative of truly quality legal services. Because McDonald Carano is Nevada’s oldest and largest business law firm and Brian’s family has lived in Las Vegas since the 1930s, joining the firm is a natural fit.

She combines her analytical expertise with a thorough understanding of the needs of general counsel and law firms as well as the global legal market in which they operate. As such, she is instrumental in the design, analysis and interpretation of Acritas’ Sharplegal – the world’s most comprehensive annual study of the global legal market – to ensure it continues to deliver credible evidence to inform and validate strategic planning.

Her passion for helping law firms to develop more effective strategies and achieve their goals is second to none. In 2011, Lizzy established Acritas’ US office and continues to service and build our North American client base from her new home in New York.

She regularly leads research projects including client reviews and thought leadership programs, and presents solutions built on robust research findings to the management boards, partnerships and practice groups of AmLaw 50 firms.

Jessica Jaramillo is a solutions-focused collaborator helping attorneys grow their practices.  As the marketing director of Ireland Stapleton Pryor & Pascoe, a 35-attorney commercial law firm in Denver, Colorado, she is responsible for raising the firm’s profile in the business community and developing and executing the firm’s strategic marketing plan.  Jessica collaborates with the firm’s attorneys and practice groups to create and implement client-focused business development initiatives.   She works closely with attorneys, all of whom are at different levels in their practice, to develop their personal profiles, set business development goals that are specific and measurable, and promote their skills and experience to target client audiences. 

Jessica has successfully created programs within her firm to improve marketing and business development infrastructure, including regular business development training, individual coaching and CRM implementation.  She has increased accountability and brings synergy and alignment to practice management. 

Prior to joining Ireland Stapleton Pryor & Pascoe, she worked for the legal marketing firm, Alyn-Weiss & Associates coordinating marketing and business development programs for small to mid-size law firms in Denver and across the country.

Andrew Laver

Andrew Laver is a Business Development Manager for McCarter & English, LLP. A firm of over 400 lawyers in nine offices, McCarter is among the oldest and largest law firms in the United States and is the oldest and largest law firm based in the State of New Jersey. Andrew is responsible for the marketing and business development efforts of the firm’s Philadelphia and Wilmington offices as well as the Insurance Coverage and Bankruptcy & Restructuring Practice Groups. He served as president of the Legal Marketing Association’s Metropolitan Philadelphia Chapter in 2014, joined the LMA’s Governance Committee in 2015 and served as a liaison to the Chapter President’s Committee.

Andrew is a graduate of Syracuse University and was president of the Syracuse University Philadelphia Alumni Club from 2007-2010. Since then, he has served on the board of the Syracuse University National Alumni Association, Inc. in various committee, ex officio and board roles. He is currently serving a two-year term as Vice President of the Alumni Association and, as a member of the Executive Committee, chairs the Awards Committee.

Clare Ota

Allen Matkins

Clare Ota is Senior Marketing and Business Development Manager at Allen Matkins, a full service California-based firm.  She partners with individual lawyers, offices, and practice groups to develop strategic plans and client service initiatives.  She also manages the Northern California Real Estate Women of Influence programming and events, bringing professional women in the real estate industry together to address the business challenges and opportunities unique to women professionals.

Clare is an active member of the LMA – Bay Area Chapter, where she is currently programs chair.  Clare also serves on the 2017 Annual Conference Advisory Committee.  She chaired the Legal Marketing Technology Conference in 2013 and 2014, and was co-chair of the conference in 2012.  Additionally, Clare serves as a member of the sponsorship committee member for the LMA – Bay Area Chapter.

Brook Redmond is the Director of Business Development at Baker Donelson, a law firm with more than 700 attorneys and advisors located in 20 offices across the Southeast, Texas and Washington, D.C. Brook provides business development coaching to the Firm's attorneys, and creates strategic business development plans for groups of attorneys and key client teams. In the creation and execution of business development plans, she calls on her near 12 years with Baker Donelson to determine team composition, targets for client interviews, fee arrangements, meaningful client events and trade organization involvement. Brook has a passion for lateral integration and engaging Baker Donelson alumni. She recently developed a lateral integration and coaching program for new attorneys joining Baker Donelson and launched the Baker Donelson A-List for the Firm's alumni.

Betsi Roach

Betsi Roach serves as Executive Director of the Legal Marketing Association. In addition to working with the LMA board of directors on long-range strategic planning, Betsi is responsible for facilitating expansion of the organization, primarily through incorporation of new chapters, thus furthering the reputation and reach of the association. She also serves as the primary contact for volunteer leadership – a 13 member Board of Directors, 12 international committees, 3 task forces, 6 SIGs and 19 chapters.

With more than 25 years in the association, legal and financial services industry, Betsi previously served as director, American Bar Association Section of Intellectual Property Law (ABA-IPL). Previously, she served as a practice development manager at Farella Braun + Martel, LLP law firm in San Francisco. Prior to her time with Farella Braun + Martel, she worked for an association of venture capital and private equity investors.

Roach holds a bachelor's degree in linguistics from the University of Minnesota and a master's degree in international management from the American Graduate School of International Management, Thunderbird Campus, in Glendale, Ariz.

Rebecca Wissler

Rebecca Wissler is the Business Development Manager of the Global Life Sciences practice at Sidley Austin. She is based in Washington, DC, but works with partners around the world who service the pharmaceutical, medical device, food and healthcare industries. Rebecca moved to Washington, DC, in 2014 from New Orleans, LA, where she was the Business Development Manager for the litigation practice group at Adams and Reese. Rebecca began her legal marketing career ten years ago and has experience as small, mid-size and global firms—the constant throughout all of which has been LMA. She has served in a variety of positions, including the New Orleans/Baton Rouge City Group chair, Southeastern Chapter Treasurer and Programming Chair, and as a judge for LMA International’s Your Honor Awards. She credits her career progression to relying on the sage advice of her LMA colleagues and their willingness to pick up the phone when she calls needing guidance. As long as she is involved in legal marketing, Rebecca plans to pay it forward and help as many members as she can to succeed in their positions.
