December already – where has the time gone?! It has been an absolute pleasure serving you as President of LMA Canada in 2025. Like many, December is a month of reflection, planning, and celebration. Throughout the past few weeks (well, month if I am honest), most of my reflections have been celebratory in nature! We've accomplished so much in 2025, and I am grateful for everything we've done together.
So, in the spirit of looking back, here's my version of LMA Canada Wrapped:
- 159 Members
- 14 social events (including LMA Canada Night at #LMA2025)
- 9 webinars on topics covering the Body of Knowledge
- 7 LSCs – fully staffed with Chairs and events in each local chapter (first time in a while!)
- 4 new incoming board members for 2026
- 3 major sponsors (Lexpert | Canadian Lawyer, Calibrate, and Cubicle Fugitive)
- 2 Chief and Leader Roundtables
- 2 Inaugural LMA Bootcamp events targeted at those new to legal marketing
- 1 successful rename of an LSC from Halifax to Atlantic Canada
- Too many meetings to count (but I loved every single one)
- Unlimited connections and friends made throughout the year
Of course, I wouldn't be me without doing "one last thing" before the end of the year. I'm very proud to announce that we've signed an in-kind sponsorship agreement with Alexa Translations which will begin in 2026. This in-kind sponsorship will ensure our LMA Canada content, including webinars, is available in both English and French (our two official languages).
To the 2025 LMA Canada Board – thank you. You've been outstanding colleagues and friends. I look forward to serving on the 2026 LMA Canada Board with many of you again. A special thanks to Hans Chang (Immediate Past President 2025), Michelle Bell (Treasurer 2025), Elora Schatzker (Secretary 2025), and Adhi Reza (Communications Chair 2025) for everything! You will be missed as board members, but I hope to see you at future LMA events.
In 2026, we welcome new board members, new ideas, and an exciting year of educational and social programming. We will also host an annual Canada Conference in November – date to be determined. Stay tuned for everything we have in store. To everyone I've had the pleasure of meeting over the past year, please stay in touch – this community means the world to me, and I hope to see you all again soon.
Happy holidays to all, and Happy New Year!
Over to you, Katie Stowe!
Warm regards,
Sarah Short
