Get to Know LMA Northeast Members Kevin Iredell and Kelly Mackinnon

Coaching and consulting firm Society 54 has been recognizing members of the legal marketing community who they consider to be thought leaders in its monthly newsletter. They call these individuals “Outlaws” – those men and women in our profession who think outside the law (and the box). We asked Society 54’s Jill Huse if we could reprint some of these profiles. Here you can read more about LMA Northeast Members Kevin Iredell and Kelly MacKinnon who are also serving on the LMA International Board of Directors.

She is an active member of the Legal Marketing Association and has held various board positions at both the international and chapter level.

She received her B.A. from Brown University in American History and Business, and was a four year division 1 athlete playing both Field Hockey and Ice Hockey.

Finish this sentence, “If I could have one super-power, it would be…

To never have to sleep. While I love to, imagine how much you could get done and all the cool experiences you could have if you had 24 hours to do things.

Finish this sentence, “If I won the lottery tomorrow I would…”

Likely still be working in legal marketing but would enjoy sunsets on my beach house deck.

What is your motto?

“It is all good.” So much of life and potential opportunities are what you make of them. I always try to find the good in everything even if I have to dig a little bit.

Where would you like to live?

I would love to live in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. The empty space, fresh air, pace of life and beauty is captivating.

What is your idea of happiness?

A good glass of red wine, a cheese and meat plate, a cool fall evening surrounded by good friends and family laughing till my sides hurt.

What is your greatest fear?

My greatest fear is disappointing those I love. And snakes – no matter how big or how small.

What is your current state of mind?

What got you into working in the legal industry?

I was looking for a career that allowed me to continue to leverage my marketing and coaching experience.

Who would you have liked to be?

A sports broadcaster preferably in a hockey rink somewhere.

Iredell Kevin 2017.jpg

Kevin, a Director at public relations and communications firm Greentarget, has spent the past two decades building a career in B2B and the legal industry, leading efforts in marketing, market research, business development and communications. At Greentarget, Kevin is tasked with expanding existing research capabilities, adding to the firm’s earned media and content offerings, allowing it to create powerful thought-leadership campaigns that can be leveraged to drive traditional media coverage.

What is your idea of happiness?

Doing something interesting and fun and rewarding with people I love.

What is your motto?

Moderation is for monks.

What is your greatest fear?

Probably that I’m going to miss out on something. Being a Leo (and an Outlaw!) I like being the center of attention, but I have enough self-awareness to know that’s not always the case.

Finish this sentence, “If I could have one super-power, it would be…”

Healing. I hate to see other people in pain or suffering.

If you could have dinner with one person, dead or alive, who would it be and why?

Otto von Bismarck – the last leader of the Prussian Empire. He was a brilliant statesman and powerful leader whose actions led to the First World War and the end of the Prussian Empire.

What got you into working in the legal industry?

I started my legal marketing career at Martindale-Hubbell as a marketing manager for 15+ years ago. I’ve been hooked on legal since.

What is your current state of mind?

Crazed. This is a busy time of year with projects coming to completion before Q4 and budget planning for 2018.

Your favorite virtue?

Humility. In Roman and Greek mythology hubris is the greatest offense to the gods. I think they were on to something.

What would you consider your greatest achievement?

My family. My children.

Open a bait and tackle shop in a small beach town and run a charter fishing outfit for underprivileged families looking for a fun and safe way to spend time together.
