Kristen Bateman Leis is the Chief Business Development & Marketing Officer, leading the business development and marketing efforts for Parker Poe, a business law firm with offices in North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia. Kristen has been a legal marketer for 17 years for some of the most well respected law firms in the Midwest, Pacific Northwest, and the Southeast. She is passionate about the business of law and sets the strategy for Parker Poe’s client relations and business development, competitive and business intelligence, and marketing communications programs. Kristen has a niche focus on business development programs, client feedback initiatives, process improvement standards, and team building. She earned her B.A. from Capital University in Columbus, Ohio, and is currently enrolled in graduate school at the University of North Carolina – Charlotte, where is she working toward her M.B.A. Kristen can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Director of Business Development
Jon serves as the Director of Business Development for BakerHostetler, a law firm with over 940 lawyers across the US. Jon is responsible for stimulating profitable revenue growth through the implementation of client development processes and the leadership of the business development team of 25 who enable and drive the business development efforts of 70 practice teams, 14 offices and seven industry sectors. Previously Jon was Chief Marketing and Business Development Officer at Tucker Ellis where he was responsible for revenue growth, new client generation, brand awareness, and instilling a culture of client service and business development throughout the firm.
Before coming to law firms, Jon spent most of his career in Big Four accounting serving in a unique blend of roles including external business development to some of the firm’s largest clients, a geography marketing leadership role, and a client service/timekeeper role within a state and local tax practice.
Jon is a frequent guest speaker to the LMA International Conference and LMA chapters, LSSO, bar associations, and other organizations on business development within professional services organizations. He received his BA in Economics from Eastern Illinois University and his MBA from Wake Forest University. He lives in Chagrin Falls, OH with his wife Jerrel Lynn and daughters Emily (16), Ashley (12) and their boykin spaniel, Wrigley.
Astrid Altmann Forbes
Head of Strategy Business Development and Marketing
Astrid Altmann Forbes has more than 20 years experience in senior roles in the professional services sector and has a proven track record in planning and directing strategic business development programs to boost client growth and attract new mandates. Her expertise spans strategic planning, establishing key client and industry sector programs, management of international referral relationships, client feedback and insights, communications, brand, and operational management. She further has developed and implemented systems and processes to increase the efficiency of her departments and to help gain greater BD insight.
Astrid started her career in with Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer in 2000 in London, worked for Amlaw-20 firm Covington & Burling as Head of Europe, was Director Strategy and Business Development at Gleiss Lutz before she joined Linklaters last year as Head of Strategy, BD & Marketing. Astrid is a regular speaker at industry conferences, with a particular focus on innovation in BD and is a contributor to “Marketing für Kanzleien und Wirtschaftsprüfer”, a leading reference guide for the professional services sector in Germany.
With her husband and twin boys, Astrid lives in Munich, Germany. Outside of Linklaters, she is spokesperson and member of the strategy group of WorkingMoms, a network of women in leadership positions in Germany that aims to promote that women can have both: a family and a career.
Legal Marketing Association
Holly Amatangelo currently serves as the Interim Executive Director and Education Director for the Legal Marketing Association (LMA) and is responsible for the analysis, strategy, planning, development and delivery of all educational offerings for the association. Prior to joining LMA, Holly served as the director of training and development for Kaplan Higher Education and as the national director of academics for one of Kaplan’s subsidiaries. She has spent her career focused on ensuring operational excellence, innovation and results in the areas of strategy development, team leadership, curriculum/product development, and operations.
Holly holds a bachelor’s degree in English and theatre from Washington University in St. Louis and a master’s degree in higher education with a specialization in adult teaching and learning from Purdue University Global. She is a member of the Association for Talent Development and the Screen Actors Guild (SAG), a community board member and One Fund committee member for Emerald City Theatre, and a field advocate for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Holly also serves on the Executive Board of Directors for Chicago Run, a non-profit dedicated to promoting health and wellness for more than 17,000 underserved Chicago youth.

Patrick Fuller is the Vice President and General Manager of ALM Legal Intelligence. He has spent the last 20 years of this career in the legal industry, holding a variety of business development, consulting, and senior leadership roles. Prior to joining ALM, he served as the VP of Business Development for AI start-up Neota Logic, and previous to that was the Director of Legal Analytics for Wolters Kluwer’s ELM Solutions, working with legal departments to define, measure, and take action on key performance indicators for legal departments and operations. His career also includes stints with Martindale-Hubbell, Thomson Reuters, Hildebrandt Consulting, and LawVision Group. He is a frequent author and speaker, with over 200 speaking and authorship credits within the legal industry.
Patrick also serves on the Board of Directors for IgniteOKC, is an advisory board member of two LegalTech start-ups, and is a Fellow in The College of Law Practice Management.

Jessica Jaramillo is a solutions-focused collaborator helping attorneys grow their practices. As the marketing director of Ireland Stapleton Pryor & Pascoe, a 35-attorney commercial law firm in Denver, Colorado, she is responsible for raising the firm’s profile in the business community and developing and executing the firm’s strategic marketing plan. Jessica collaborates with the firm’s attorneys and practice groups to create and implement client-focused business development initiatives. She works closely with attorneys, all of whom are at different levels in their practice, to develop their personal profiles, set business development goals that are specific and measurable, and promote their skills and experience to target client audiences.
Jessica has successfully created programs within her firm to improve marketing and business development infrastructure, including regular business development training, individual coaching and CRM implementation. She has increased accountability and brings synergy and alignment to practice management.

Christine (CJ) Juhasz
Assistant Vice President Law Strategy and Operations
Christine Juhasz (CJ) is an expert in Lean Management who re-imagined the legal operations function at MassMutual. CJ coaches the Legal Operations team to enable Law Department professionals to deliver strategic value for their clients through improved process and collaboration.
With nearly 20 years of management and process improvement experience in the life insurance industry, CJ has had the opportunity to work with talented and skilled teams who manage the many “hidden processes” that enable the business. Starting her career as a trainer for new business case managers, she learned from the “front line” and CJ carries those learnings with her to this day. Transitioning from trainer to team manager and then eventually to Director for an entire business line, the importance of those front line learnings and the importance of staying close to that work has been core to CJ’s leadership approach. Three years ago, CJ joined MassMutual and began her journey in legal process improvement.
CJ is the leader of the ACC (Association of Corporate Counsel) Legal Operations New England Regional Cohort and recently co-authored “Applying Efficient Business Strategies to the Legal Department” published in ACC Dockett, 2018. CJ has presented Lean in Legal to the Attorney General of Connecticut and she has presented on leadership at the WIPL (Women, Influence and Power in Law) Conference in 2017. CJ holds a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from George Mason University as well as a dual degree in French and Political Science from Rutgers College, Rutgers University. CJ also obtained her FLMI (Fellow, Life Management Institute).

Diana Lauritson is the Eastern Regional Business Development Manager at Ballard Spahr, an Am Law 100 firm with more than 650 lawyers. She leads the business development and marketing efforts in five geographic markets, collaborating with lawyers to create and execute initiatives focused on profile raising in the local markets and supporting the overall strategic goals of the firm. Before Ballard, she was a Marketing Manager at Jennings, Strouss & Salmon in Phoenix.
Diana has had a versatile career and spent many years working in government and politics before entering the legal marketing field. In addition to legal, her background in business development, marketing, and communications encompasses a variety of industries and areas, including higher education, management consulting, trade associations, and nonprofits.
She has been an active member of LMA, currently serving as a member of the Diversity & Inclusion SIG, and previously as the past president of the Southwest Chapter and member of the Southwest Regional Nominating Committee.
Diana attended Creighton University and earned her B.A. in Political Science with a specialization in Legal Studies. She earned a M.B.A from Florida Tech and a M.S. in Negotiation and Dispute Resolution from Creighton University School of Law.

Adrian Lurssen is co-founder and VP of Strategic Development at legal content distributor JD Supra. He also spearheads the company’s editorial and social media initiatives. Adrian has worked in new media for most of his professional life. He served as the senior managing editor at Yahoo! in the critical early days of the Web, creating and managing the company’s first team of editors and writers whose work included Yahoo! News Full Coverage, Daily & Weekly Picks, Ask Yahoo! and other editorial features. In 1999 Brill’s Content media magazine placed Adrian on their Top-25 Influence list, calling him “the most important person in cyberspace of whom you’ve never heard.” He likes to point out that the magazine folded shortly after that dubious honor.

As Chief Client and Innovation Officer, Judith leads the firm’s client relations and marketing strategy, and oversees business development, research, pricing, knowledge integration and innovation capabilities. She also provides strategic commercial and intellectual property counsel to clients.
Prior to joining the firm, Judith (a chemical engineer and an IP lawyer by training) was Vice President and General Counsel for DuPont Pioneer, responsible for legal affairs internationally. Prior to this position, she was Chief Administrative Officer and General Counsel for DuPont Canada, where she led the company's operating team as well as legal and public affairs.
Client-centric and market-focused, Judith knows how to help general counsel in Canadian, US and global business environments succeed, precisely because she’s been in their shoes. Performing client side at the executive level in a Fortune 500 company has made Judith keenly attuned to the voice of the client and what is of value to them - and equally important - what isn’t. Kerry Price has focused her career on turning ideas into actions that result in organizational growth and loyalty. An early pioneer of the law firm chief innovation officer role, Ryan coordinates with practice group, departmental and local office leadership to align innovation activities with core business strategy.
Ryan has more than 20 years of law firm management experience and a reputation for building high-performance teams that deliver innovative solutions to meet complex business challenges. In his role, Ryan leads change in how the law firm operates and delivers value to clients. He also provides oversight and management of teams dedicated to Practice & Administrative Support, Technology & Information Management, eDiscovery, Legal Project Management, Pricing, Process Improvement, and Knowledge Management.
