There are green awards and certifications law firms can seek which can give them third-party validation for their green efforts.  These include:

SB NOW- Sustainable Business Network of Washington- By joining SB NOW, your firm can participate in a full environmental audit and will have access to vendors to implement the suggestions in a cost effective manner.  By implementing the suggestions outlined in the audit, your firm can become certified by SB NOW.

ABA-EPA Law Office Climate Challenge- The Climate Challenge is designed to encourage law offices to take specific steps to conserve energy and resources, as well as reduce emissions of greenhouse gases - which cause global climate change - and other pollutants. Law offices may meet the Climate Challenge simply by undertaking best practices for office paper management or by participating in one or more of three EPA partnership programs.

The Aspen Institute Energy and Environment Awards- Created by the Aspen Institute Global Leadership Network, the Aspen Institute Energy and Environment Awards recognize and reward excellence for those making a real and concrete contribution to innovation, implementation, and communication of energy and environmental solutions.

LEED Project Certification- LEED certification provides independent, third-party verification that a building project meets the highest green building and performance measures. All certified projects receive a LEED plaque, which is the nationally recognized symbol demonstrating that a building is environmentally responsible, profitable and a healthy place to live and work.  This certification is ideal for a law firm that is undergoing a construction project like a new office or buildout.
