President’s Message
Congratulations! It’s Tax Day and your filings have been completed or extended. For many, this day comes with a sense of individual accomplishment, (and perhaps a refund), as we take a final look back at 2011 before dedicating our focus on 2012.
As an organization, 2012 promises to be an exciting year for the NYLMA, our 20th as a Chapter, and I am proud of what we have already accomplished this year.
On February 28th, more than 200 members gathered for a celebration at the Grand Hyatt New York in honor of our 20th Anniversary. Many thanks to the generous sponsors and dedicated committee members that worked hard to pull the event together. I was honored to stand before you that night, and moved yet again by the strong sense of community we have in our Chapter.

On behalf of the Board of Directors, I would also like to congratulate the 1st Annual Metropolitan New York LMA Award recipients - each of whom embody the volunteerism, commitment and dedication that makes our Chapter so unique.
On March 14th, over 110 of our members traveled to Dallas to attend the 2012 LMA Annual Conference. Later that month, we held the Chapter's 2012 Annual Business Meeting, which was graciously hosted by Bingham. At the Annual Business Meeting, we presented information on membership and financials, as well as the initiatives, goals and objectives of the Chapter and its Committees and Special Interest Groups (SIG).
Looking forward, our monthly programs resume April 19th, with a cocktail hour - interactive workshop at the 3 West Club. This workshop, entitled “Unpacking and Mapping Your Career Business Plan,” features Jennifer Johnson of J. Johnson Executive Search, and Kelly Hoey, a business network strategist. Our featured panelists promise to guide participants toward a “holistic plan for what they need to do to have a successful career path.”
