Brian C. Dare
Director, Sales and Client Development
Brian Dare currently serves as Director, Sales & Client Development at Foley Gardere. He works with firm leaders, practice groups, industry teams, and individual attorneys to help drive revenue growth and client loyalty. Prior to combining with Foley & Lardner LLP on April 1, 2018, Brian served as the Chief Marketing Officer at Gardere Wynne Sewell LLP, an Am Law 200 firm and one of the Southwest’s largest full-service law firms. Prior to joining Gardere, Brian served as the Chief Business Development Officer at Strasburger & Price and the Director of Business Development at Baker Botts. With more than 25 years of marketing and business development experience, Brian has been involved in LMA since 2001 and currently serves as the LMASW Region Director of Sponsorships. Before his career in legal marketing, Brian worked in the advertising and software industries, and played minor league baseball for the Atlanta Braves organization.
Chief Client Development Officer
Katherine D'Urso joined WilmerHale as its Chief Client Development Officer in 2014. She leads the business development, marketing and communications functions of the firm, working with WilmerHale's managing partners, practice groups, individual partners and staff to increase the effectiveness of business development efforts and raise the profiles of the firm and its lawyers.
Before WilmerHale, Ms. D'Urso was King & Spalding's chief marketing officer for 10 years. In that role, she substantially expanded the department's remit, including establishing a business development function, expanding media relations and thought-leadership efforts, extending the firm's digital presence (website, social media, digital marketing) and building a brand management function. Her efforts aided and supported the execution of the firm's strategy and business plan, which resulted in significant and measurable improvements in the firm's market position and brand strength.
Earlier in her career she was the first chief marketing officer at Weil, Gotshal & Manges. Prior to that, she was a partner with PricewaterhouseCoopers where she served in various senior marketing roles, including leading the team that launched and managed the PricewaterhouseCoopers brand worldwide, and subsequently served as chief marketing officer for a PwC technology venture.
Mary Margaret Gorman

Mary Margaret Gorman is a New Orleans native who has focused her career on providing public relations and marketing services to businesses launching, growing, and rebranding. She currently leads the public relations efforts for Jones Walker, a 390-lawyer national law firm based in New Orleans, Louisiana. She manages thought leadership campaigns for practice groups, oversees crisis communications, and helps to connect lawyers with their ideal target audiences. For the past 14 years, she has worked exclusively inside of law firms on the legal marketing team leading the marketing, business development and public relations efforts. Prior to joining Jones Walker, she led the PR efforts for McGlinchey Stafford PLLC in New Orleans and before that she worked in Pillsbury Winthrop’s marketing department in San Francisco and Houston. Mary Margaret earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Relations from the University of Alabama.
Director of Business Development
Mike Haag has more than 19 years of sales, marketing, and business development experience. He is the Director of Business Development for GrayRobinson, a full-service law firm with 300 attorneys throughout Florida. With a focus on client-facing and revenue-generating activities, Mike primarily leads the strategic business development and marketing initiatives. From the firm level to individual attorney, he plans, coaches and develops opportunities to deepen existing client relationships, generate new business from prospects, cross-sell services, increase visibility, obtain leadership positions, become a thought leader, and establish and maintain referral sources. A native of Richmond, Virginia, Mike earned his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Richmond, and currently serves as the president of the UR Alumni Association of Central Florida. Mike serves on the Board of Directors for Make-A-Wish Foundation and The Russell Home, the first non-profit institution in the country for brain-damaged children. When not working, Mike enjoys spending time with his wife and two sons traveling or playing and coaching sports.

Jon serves as the Director of Business Development for BakerHostetler, a law firm with over 940 lawyers across the US. Jon is responsible for stimulating profitable revenue growth through the implementation of client development processes and the leadership of the business development team of 25 who enable and drive the business development efforts of 70 practice teams, 14 offices and seven industry sectors. Previously Jon was Chief Marketing and Business Development Officer at Tucker Ellis where he was responsible for revenue growth, new client generation, brand awareness, and instilling a culture of client service and business development throughout the firm.
Before coming to law firms, Jon spent most of his career in Big Four accounting serving in a unique blend of roles including external business development to some of the firm’s largest clients, a geography marketing leadership role, and a client service/timekeeper role within a state and local tax practice.
Jon is a frequent guest speaker to the LMA International Conference and LMA chapters, LSSO, bar associations, and other organizations on business development within professional services organizations. He received his BA in Economics from Eastern Illinois University and his MBA from Wake Forest University. He lives in Chagrin Falls, OH with his wife Jerrel Lynn and daughters Emily (16), Ashley (12) and their boykin spaniel, Wrigley.

Gardere Wynne Sewell LLP
Christine Mitchell currently serves as Business Development/Marketing Manager at Gardere Wynne Sewell LLP. She partners with attorneys and management in all aspects of driving business development initiatives, cross-selling opportunities and community-related involvement for the firm.
Prior to joining Gardere, she was a member of the Marketing team at Fulbright & Jaworski LLP (now known as Norton Rose Fulbright).
She has been involved with LMA for many years and currently serves on the Education Advisory Committee. Additional involvement includes serving as President of the Texas Chapter, as well as Chair of the Southwest Regional Governing Board, and as a member of the Governance Committee.
Senior Marketing & Business Development Manager
Clare Ota is Senior Marketing and Business Development Manager at Allen Matkins, a full service California-based firm. She partners with individual lawyers, offices, and practice groups to develop strategic plans and client service initiatives. She also manages the Northern California Real Estate Women of Influence programming and events, bringing professional women in the real estate industry together to address the business challenges and opportunities unique to women professionals.
Clare is an active member of the LMA – Bay Area Chapter, where she is currently programs chair. Clare also serves on the 2017 Annual Conference Advisory Committee. She chaired the Legal Marketing Technology Conference in 2013 and 2014, and was co-chair of the conference in 2012. Additionally, Clare serves as a member of the sponsorship committee member for the LMA – Bay Area Chapter.;
James (Jim) Pagliaro is a noted trial lawyer and accomplished law firm leader. For over 30 years Jim was a litigation partner and practice group leader at Morgan Lewis. Jim was appointed as the first Global Litigation Practice Group Leader at Morgan Lewis in 1998. In 2009 Jim became the Morgan Lewis Firm Managing Partner for Client Relations, a position he held until 2014. As the Global Litigation Practice Group Leader, Jim helped organize and define the practice group model at the firm. During his tenure, the Morgan Lewis Litigation Practice tripled in size and profitability, with new offices opened around the world.
Jim, a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, also managed a thriving litigation and trial practice representing Fortune 100 global companies as national trial and coordinating counsel in cases around the country.
As the Managing Partner for Client Relations, Jim was charged with developing a comprehensive client relations plan, a client feedback program, and reorganizing the firm’s marketing, business development and public relations functions. Additionally, Jim was charged with launching the firm’s client team program, dubbed Client Alliance.
An active writer and speaker, Jim has spoken and led panels on a variety of topics, including: law firm and practice group organization, management and profitability; partner compensation challenges; and developing key client & client feedback programs.
Betsi Roach, MIM, CAE
Legal Marketing Association
Betsi Roach serves as Executive Director of the Legal Marketing Association. In addition to working with the LMA board of directors on long-range strategic planning, Ms. Roach is responsible for facilitating expansion of the organization, primarily through incorporation of new chapters, thus furthering the reputation and reach of the association. She also serves as the primary contact for volunteer leadership – a 13 member Board of Directors, 10 international committees, 2 task forces, 8 Shared Interest Groups and 8 regions.
With more than 25 years in the association, legal and financial services industry, Betsi previously served as director, American Bar Association Section of Intellectual Property Law (ABA-IPL). Previously, she served as a practice development manager at Farella Braun + Martel, LLP law firm in San Francisco. Prior to her time with Farella Braun + Martel, she worked for an association of venture capital and private equity investors.
Roach holds a bachelor's degree in linguistics from the University of Minnesota and a master's degree in international management from the American Graduate School of International Management, Thunderbird Campus, in Glendale, Ariz.

Lisa Simon is Chief Marketing and Business Development Officer at Lewis Roca Rothgerber Christie. She is responsible for the creation and implementation of innovative business development and marketing strategies that drive revenue, expand and grow client relationships and serve as a catalyst for new client acquisition. She provides strategic leadership and support to the Firm’s Managing Partner, Practice Group Leaders, office leaders and the marketing team in reaching the firm’s business development goals.
A twenty-year legal marketing veteran and proven leader in the industry, Lisa is a frequent speaker on client growth and retention, value pricing, team management and leadership and talent acquisition. Lisa was inducted into the LMA Hall of Fame in 2017, served as LMA President in 2008 and has held numerous leadership positions with LMA during her career.
Before her career in legal marketing, Lisa worked in the banking industry and in broadcasting. She has a B.A. in Communications from the University of Denver.
Mary K. Young
Mary K Young is a legal industry strategist and marketing expert with a track record of corporate strategy and branding success. Her work developing and implementing strategic growth plans for law firms builds on decades of experience with strategic planning, market research, and branding. She is known for insightful analysis, producing tangible results, and leading through collaboration. Since she joined Zeughauser Group in 2006, leading law firms have relied on her to craft powerful growth plans and branding programs that resonate with law firm clients. Mary K spent ten years at Kraft Foods where she developed and implemented profit and revenue growth strategies for some of the company's most important brands.
Mary K established her reputation as a legal innovator while serving as chief marketing officer of Howrey LLP from 2000-2006. Mary K holds an M.B.A. from the Anderson School of Management at UCLA and an A.B. from Vassar College.

Mona Zeiberg is the Chief Marketing Officer of Morgan, Lewis & Bockius. In this role, she develops and implements strategic marketing priorities for the firm. Mona leads marketing professionals across the firm’s offices, and has extensive experience in all facets of marketing and business development. Prior to entering the legal marketing field, Mona was a practicing labor and employment lawyer both with Morgan Lewis and with a nationally known trade association. Mona is a graduate of The American University and Emory University School of Law.

Ashraf Lakhani is the Director of Business Development and Marketing at Porter Hedges LLP in Houston. He is responsible for developing and executing the business development and marketing strategies for the firm and its practices, managing the public relations effort, and leading the team of marketing professionals. Prior to Porter Hedges, he led the Texas marketing efforts for Morgan Lewis, growing a new office in Houston and managing the firm’s presence in Dallas. Before that, he was part of the intellectual property practice group marketing team at Howrey LLP. He currently serves as the President-Elect of the Legal Marketing Association (LMA) and was the Co-Chair of the 2015 LMA Annual Conference in San Diego.
