Northeast - When Lawyers Don’t Follow Through on BD: How Internal BD Teams Can Support Implementation

When Lawyers Don’t Follow Through on BD: How Internal BD Teams Can Support Implementation

Tuesday, July 28 | 12:30-1:30 p.m. ET

Law firms invest significant time and resources in business development training, retreats, planning sessions, and coaching initiatives. Lawyers often leave those programs with useful ideas, thoughtful plans, and the best of intentions. Then client demands, billable work, and competing priorities take over, and implementation becomes inconsistent.

For internal business development professionals, this creates a familiar challenge: how do you help lawyers move from planning to action when you do not have the time or budget to coach every lawyer one-on-one?

This program will explore practical, scalable ways firms are helping lawyers implement business development initiatives more consistently. Panelists will discuss approaches such as accountability partnerships, peer learning groups, small-group coaching, manager-led conversations, structured follow-up, and other tools that support execution without overwhelming the BD team.

Attendees will leave with practical ideas they can adapt to their own firms, regardless of size, staffing, or budget.
