The M&BD Manager SIG brings together marketing and business development managers who are shaping the future of the role amid growing complexity and rising expectations.
This SIG explores how the M&BD Manager position will evolve across firms, and what skills, mindset and behaviours will define the next generation of M&BD leaders. Discussions centre on the shift from delivery and execution to strategic influence, leadership impact and building high-performing teams.
Members use the SIG as a peer-led space to discuss new ideas, share challenges and practical insights, and learn from others at a similar career stage across different firms and markets. Sessions are collaborative, solutions-focused and grounded in day-to-day realities, while keeping a clear eye on long-term leadership, innovation and career progression.
The BD Manager SIG is open to LMA Europe members currently working in BD Manager or equivalent roles.

Her success in an international setting is built on a strong understanding of different market dynamics, cultures, and ways of working, developed through living and working on three continents. Heather has collaborated with professionals across Australia, South and East Asia, Russia and CIS, the UK and Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and offshore locations.
Before joining Walkers in 2021, Heather worked with several leading global professional services firms, including Baker McKenzie, Mayer Brown, and Simmons & Simmons. Most recently, she served as the Chief Operating Officer for KPMG's Clients & Markets function across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia.

With 30+ years in professional services business development, marketing and sales, Jon is applying his knowledge and experience to develop and evolve Intapp’s DealCloud solution as the most effective AI enabled growth platform for professional services firms, ensuring it remains innovative, effective and impactful—for lawyers, leadership and BD professionals. Jon is a former CMO, and during his time in leadership he witnessed a major shift in the value of client relationships. At the heart of every professional services firm are relationships, expertise, and intellectual capital, and Jon wanted to be part of the journey to develop a solution that will help transform more strategic and effective law firm marketing, business development and sales. In addition to Jon’s professional services experience at Orrick, DLA Piper and PwC, he worked at a creative agency and ran his own marketing and communications company. He worked with leadership teams to design and implement strategies with a focus on client development, industry solutions, brand awareness and sales. Jon excels at strategy, campaigns, team leadership, mulit-level communication, project management and execution with a proven ability for innovating with creative approaches, demonstrated by one of his campaigns winning PwC the Financial Times Innovative Lawyer Award.
