In his role as Venable's chief revenue officer, Guenther Schumacher oversees Venable’s business development, marketing, and practice management teams with a mandate to enhance Venable's approach to client service and to advance the firm’s position in the marketplace.
As an executive in the professional services industry, Guenther has an established track record of helping companies build their brand, grow their business, and optimize their service models. Prior to joining Venable, he spent more than 20 years with Ogilvy, one of the world’s leading advertising and marketing services firms, where he worked with blue-chip brands like IBM, Cisco, Kimberly-Clark, Unilever, and American Express. Most recently, he served as Ogilvy’s executive partner and global chief delivery officer, overseeing the agency’s program management office, studio ecosystem, and all of its client-facing technology services. Prior roles have included worldwide president of the firm’s digital arm, OgilvyOne, and worldwide president of Ogilvy’s IBM Brand Services, where he managed the agency’s largest client relationship in over 25 countries.
Guenther has been a member of the board of directors of the Data and Marketing Association since 2014, serving as chairman of the board from 2015 to 2016. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his family and playing with fast cars and loud guitars.
