The LMA West Region seeks experienced, dynamic speakers to deliver high-level educational programming to attendees of the LMA Tech West Regional Conference this October 21-22, 2019. Building on the success of past LMA Tech West conferences, this re-envisioned event will explore technology as a means to an end for the business of law. Programming will enable marketers and business development professionals of every level to understand big picture strategies and on-the-ground tactics that enable us to wield technology to impact: client growth and retention, finding and pursuing new opportunities, and law firm diversity and inclusion initiatives.

Tactical Know-How & Strategic Insight: The What and the Why

While certainly focusing on what the future will hold, this conference will also educate attendees on how to use existing technologies to provide value to their clients. Therein lies real innovation.

Since the Great Recession of 2008, corporate counsel has held the upper hand in the legal buying cycle, ensuring that law firms modernize, get more efficient, and focus on diversity. This environment has also seen a dramatic increase in technology available to law firms and their business development and marketing departments.

Now that we have the tools, it is time to develop the tactics and techniques to leverage them for business development that drives revenue growth. We want attendees to explore the best, proven ways of leveraging existing technologies to innovate how they and their firms provide value to their clients.

We plan to offer attendees a mix of session types, including traditional panels, keynotes, and TED-style talks. To guide your panel development, consider:

  • Addressing existing technologies and how they can help law firms meet their clients needs through providing specific examples.
  • Engaging the audience through interactive elements and dynamic speaking styles.
  • Providing useful and applicable takeaways for attendees when they return to the office.
  • Educating different levels - with a focus on strategy for senior attendees and tactical implementation for junior attendees (note that both should not be combined into any one panel.)
  • Tactics and strategies for law firms of all sizes not just a focus on the AmLaw 200.

Consider using the following writing prompts to guide your submission:

  • Use case studies to demonstrate what worked and what didn’t.
  • What’s behind the buzzword? Break down ambiguous topics and share client examples and best practices.
  • What skills must legal marketers strengthen to make it to the next level? Dive deep into professional development.
  • What perspective haven’t we heard from? Invite them to be a voice on your session.

Topic Ideas
Your proposal should provide useful, actionable takeaways on how technology can assist law firms with furthering their client service, business development, marketing and communication initiatives. This may include, but is not limited to topics related to client teams, prospect & niche market identification, competitive intelligence, digital marketing & social media, measuring success/benchmarking, PR and crisis management, content marketing, unconscious bias, integrating marketing and technology, the client experience, journey mapping, wellness/mindfulness and more.
