Brad Antici serves as the Director of Strategic Pricing and Analysis at Butler Snow LLP, a law firm with 300+ attorneys and offices in the U.S. and U.K. Prior to joining Butler Snow, Brad was the Vice President of Investments at Parkway Properties, Inc. (NYSE: PKY), a publicly traded commercial office REIT. Antici has spent the majority of his career in roles that are centered on financial analysis.
Micah Ascano is one of a handful of attorneys who is also a certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt. Currently working at Ballard Spahr as a Legal Project Manager, he previously the Legal Project Management Program Manager at Fisher & Phillips, LLP. Micah has experience consulting to AM100 law firms, the law departments of multi-billion dollar corporations, and helping design legal matter management systems. Prior to entering the legal industry, his background was in manufacturing engineering, industrial management, and process improvement.
Andreea Axani is manager of pricing strategy at Gowlings. In this role, she works closely with the firm’s finance and marketing teams to plan and price competitive legal work based on best practices, including efficient work allocation and achievability.
Adam Barvels is the Pricing Director at Robins Kaplan LLP, a national law firm headquartered in downtown Minneapolis, MN. In this role, Mr. Barvels works closely with firm partners and clients with a focus on matter management and the development of innovative alternative fee arrangements. Before entering the legal industry, he worked at UnitedHealth Group for over five years in various project management, finance, and pricing roles within several business units.
Michael Boussy is a pricing professional with over 10 years of experience implementing pricing best practices in numerous industries. As a degreed engineer, his early career was spent working in account management, operations and project management roles at a variety of technology companies. After receiving his MBA from Boston University, he joined the Strategic Pricing Group where he led consulting engagements focused on value-based pricing, pricing strategy, deal desk management and competitive strategy. In addition, Boussy created, built and led pricing departments at AMD and Iron Mountain before joining Ropes & Gray in the role of Director of Pricing.
Toby Brown is the Chief Practice Officer for Akin Gump (www.akingump.com). In this role Toby works with firm partners and clients in developing pricing arrangements and service delivery models that drive successful relationships. This includes practice management, pricing, legal project management, e-discovery, trial services and knowledge services. Prior to this, Toby served as the Director of Strategic Pricing & Analytics for Akin and served in similar roles for both Vinson & Elkins (www.velaw.com) and Fulbright & Jaworski (www.fulbright.com). At Fulbright he also drove knowledge management (KM) initiatives and various marketing efforts. Before joining Fulbright, Toby served as the Communications Director for the Utah State Bar (www.utahbar.org). In his tenure with the Bar, he also served as the CLE, Access to Justice and Programs Director.
Toby presents and publishes nationally on legal technology, marketing and law firm management. He was named to The National Law Journal ‘s 2013 list of Legal Business Trailblazers & Pioneers and received the Peer Excellence Award, the President’s Award and the Anne Charles Award from the National Association of Bar Executives (NABE – www.nabenet.org). Alexandra Buck is the Chief Operating Officer and Special Counsel for Bartlit Beck Herman Palenchar & Scott LLP. She is responsible for streamlining and strengthening the firm’s operational infrastructure to support and enhance the quality, value and service of all operating.
In her role, Buck also advises the firm’s lawyers and clients on all electronic discovery and legal technology issues. She has significant expertise in the areas of electronic discovery law and policy, legal record holds/preservation, litigation readiness protocols, e-discovery technology as well as proactive records management.
Prior to her work with Bartlit Beck, Buck was Senior Counsel and Director of E-Discovery and Records Management in Abbott Laboratories’ Legal Operations Department. During her tenure at Abbott, she spearheaded major technology initiatives, developed the corporation’s litigation readiness protocol, created and executed corporate-wide training related to litigation, negotiated contracts to establish the legal vendor program and overhauled workflow and core e-discovery processes for efficiency and cost reductions. She also managed IP litigation cases and served as the corporation’s key consultant for all domestic and international corporate business units on preservation of electronic data, and corporate record retention guidelines. Before joining Abbott, Buck practiced IP and commercial litigation with Reed Smith Sachnoff & Weaver.
Byron G. Buck II is Senior Corporate Counsel for Caterpillar Inc. His practice has included counseling on a broad range of issues generally facing US corporations operating globally. He currently manages the Law Practice Management Group and focuses on improving systems and processes through which legal work is performed and creating greater flexibility in getting work done.
In 1989, Byron began his professional career as an Engineer for Transcontinental Gas Pipe Line Corporation in Houston, Texas. In 1996, Byron was an Associate at Tobor & Goldstein, L.L.P., in Houston, Texas. In 1997, Byron joined Caterpillar’s Intellectual Property Department, and from 1998 to 2004, he was Caterpillar’s Intellectual Property Representative for the Asia—Pacific region. From 2004 to 2009, Byron led Caterpillar’s legal team in Beijing, China. In July of 2009, he returned to Peoria and managed the commercial legal group supporting procurement of IT software, IT hardware, travel, and professional services. In 2011, Byron began combining his engineering and legal skill sets to improve legal processes, creating legal standard work and growing his current role.
Byron earned his Bachelor of Electrical Engineering Degree (B.E.E.) from Georgia Institute of Technology in 1989 and Doctor of Jurisprudence from South Texas College of Law in 1995. He was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in 1995 (currently inactive status) and the Illinois Bar in 2001. He became a Licensed Professional Engineer (currently inactive status) in the state of Texas in 1996 and registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in 1997.
Michael Byrd has 20+ years of experience in the legal industry with a focus on finance, operations and strategy in both domestic and international settings. That experience includes various finance-related roles at Baker & McKenzie in the U.S. and Australia and originating the roles of Pricing Director at Mayer Brown and the Director of Law Firm Management at Accenture.
In his current role as the Director of Financial Operations (North America) at Baker & McKenzie, Michael is primarily focused on process improvement in all aspects of financial administration, particularly those that are client-facing.
As Managing Principal of Value Strategies LLC, Ken works with corporate legal departments helping them get more value and predictability from their outside counsel relationships. This includes not only legal operations and process efficiency, but an emphasis in moving his clients from hourly fees to value-based fee arrangements. His clients include companies focused in technology, health care, construction and the sharing economy along with private equity firms and large conglomerates.
Ken spent 26 years at Hewlett Packard in leadership roles in operations, professional services marketing, international pricing, business development and corporate marketing. Ken later worked at Davis Wright Tremaine LLP, an international law firm, for six years as Chief Marketing Officer and Director of Business Development. At DWT he implemented numerous business development programs around alternative fees, matter management, new service delivery models, sales and lead generation, client feedback, lateral hiring and productization. Ken graduated with a degree in Physics/Physical Sciences from Stanford University, is a Certified Pricing Professional (CPP) and lives in San Francisco.
David is the Director of Global Operations – Law, Compliance and Government Relations for Archer Daniels Midland Company (ADM) where he works with the General Counsel to develop and lead a “best-in-class” law department operations function with a primary focus on aligning the department’s day-to-day operations with the business strategy.
In 2013, David was named by the National Law Journal as one of the Top 50 Legal Business Trailblazers & Pioneers. He is chairman of the advisory board for the Annual Law Department Operations Survey, where he also serves as editor and contributor. He received his Juris Doctor Degree from the University of Dayton, School of Law.
Shawn is the Legal Matter Portfolio Manager at Corning Incorporated where she is responsible for outside counsel/vendor management, data analytics and benchmarking, and budget management. She works to optimizing the efficiency of Corning’s Law Department by creating and refining policies, streamlining processes, and implementing and managing new technological tools. Her most current focus is providing visibility into global spend by implementing a matter management/e-billing system.
Shawn received her BS in Biology from Cornell University and her JD from The George Washington University Law School.
Timothy B. Corcoran was the 2014 President of the Legal Marketing Association and is an elected Fellow of the College of Law Practice Management. He delivers keynote presentations, conducts workshops, and advises leaders of law firms, in-house legal departments and legal service providers on how to profit in a time of great change. Hushmand Jonathan Cott joined Covington in January 2015. He leads an innovative team focused on achieving clients’ legal business objectives by developing fee arrangements that increase cost predictability and incentivize efficiency. Before leading the pricing and legal project management functions at two other Am Law 100 firms, Cott worked for Accenture as a business consultant and later in public service as a Chief Fiscal Accounting Officer.
Mr. Duffy works with firm leadership to strategically guide partners on a portfolio of clients to increase the effectiveness of business development efforts. With a keen focus of improving client satisfaction while providing leadership across multiple client teams and projects.
He works with partners and client teams to apply thought leadership in ways that will deliver on our clients’ business goals in innovative ways. He leads the effort to create pricing arrangements that are based on value and alignment between the client and the firm. He works with client teams to identify value within the client’s organizations, emerging client trends that could affect their businesses’ ability to create value. This includes developing relationship protocols to ensure the delivery of high quality service, resource alignment and client development. He works with partners to plan how the firm can provide clients with legal work of the highest quality, and do it with maximum efficiency.
Prior to joining King & Spalding, Mr. Duffy was a partner at Ernst & Young. He has more than 32 years of experience in business development and sales management involving large national accounts, sales and product management, strategy formation, business development training, large client team management, creative fee arrangements, and client satisfaction.
Kevin Eddy is the Director of Innovation & Analytics at Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP. Kevin is a motivational and energetic business leader - with expertise accounting, legal project management and information technology - who helps businesses strengthen their client relationships and maximize their profit potential. Kevin motivates through concise and influential analysis to help business leaders develop clear business strategies, while supporting those strategies through leveraging efficient technologies and processes.
Luanne Ellison is Senior Manager, Legal Operations at Baxter Healthcare. Prior to joining Baxter in 2014 she was Assistant Vice President at Resolute Management and Director at CNA, leading Litigation Management Units at both of those companies. She has previously been in-house counsel at the United States Steel Corporation, and has held partnership positions in private law firms, with a practice that included complex litigation and appellate work. She holds a JD from Loyola University of Chicago and an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg Graduate School of Management.
Christopher Ende is the Managing Director of Pricing & Project Management at Goodwin Procter. In this role, he oversees development and implementation of the firm's pricing and legal project management strategies, aimed at delivering increased value to clients through innovative fee arrangements, process improvement and active matter management.
He leads a dedicated team that provides counsel and support to the firm’s attorneys on budgets and alternative fee arrangements. He also works directly with clients on developing and implementing pricing arrangements, and provides training to attorneys on effective legal project management and client communications.
Ende has deep experience in law practice management. Prior to his current role, he was a litigation practice manager at Goodwin Procter where he developed and executed strategic business initiatives relating to financial management, knowledge management, marketing, and professional development and training.
Justin Ergler is responsible for developing non-hourly, value-based Alternative Fee Arrangements for GSK engagements worldwide.The value-based compensation models are designed to strengthen partnerships with key firms via risk/reward-sharing incentives.
Justin is also leading an initiative to develop ROI-style metrics that quantify and capture the value delivered to GSK by successful engagements with outside counsel. These metrics will give the corporate legal function a finance-based performance metric which showcases actual value.<
The success of these two initiatives will allow GSK to achieve the goal of true value-based arrangements by credibly linking fees with actual value delivered to the company.
Brian Fanning oversees a group that works directly with clients and lawyers to ensure matters are accurately and profitably scoped, budgeted, and priced. His team also provides project management support throughout the lifecycle of the firm’s matters including identifying process improvement opportunities, budget and profitability reporting, and post-mortem data collection and analysis.
John Ferko is Executive Vice President – Practice Management, Pricing and Operations, at Miles & Stockbridge, and a member of the firm's executive leadership team. John's responsibilities include the development of firm-wide practice management and pricing strategy. In this role, he works with clients and lawyers to craft predictable, win-win pricing options aligned with client needs, expectations, risk tolerances, legal budgets, and other internal pressures. John also drives project management, process improvement, alternative staffing, and other initiatives that improve each practice group's delivery of legal services, client satisfaction, and results.
An executive with deep legal industry experience, John previously held roles with three international law firms, serving as chief operating officer, chief financial officer, and practice manager.
John is passionate about delivering value in the client-firm relationship, and frequently speaks at legal industry conferences on the topic of client value, and the related disciplines of pricing, practice management, and negotiation. This passion also led him to co-found The True Value Partnering Institute, a virtual hub and think tank connecting legal industry thought leaders and those responsible for driving value in their organizations.
James (Jim) Foley is the Pricing and Budget Director at Hunton & Williams, and is based in Richmond, Virginia. Foley joined the firm in 1995, and served for 10 years as Controller responsible for all accounting functions including client accounting, partner accounting, general accounting, financial reporting, payroll, tax and the travel department. He then moved into a practice-centric role as Senior Business Manager for the firm’s litigation and advocacy teams, where he focused on financial issues such as pricing, compensation and staffing. Finally, Foley expanded to a firm-wide role, in which he now specializes in pricing and matter budgeting on behalf of nearly 800 lawyers in 19 offices around the world. In keeping pace with ongoing changes in the legal industry, he also oversees conflicts and new business intake, and Legal Project Management. The current emphasis is on profitability, analytics, client matter data and the client matter life-cycle.
Foley is very active in the town of Ashland, Virginia (aka “The Center of the Universe”™) where he lives with his wife, three kids, one perfect granddaughter, two dogs, one cat and assorted chickens.
Geoff Frost is the Director of Client Development at Bondurant Mixson & Elmore, a litigation boutique based in Atlanta, GA. Mr. Frost is responsible for directing all of the firm’s business and professional development activities.
Frost currently serves on the Board for Georgia Law Center for the Homeless and is a past Program Chair for the Atlanta Legal Marketing Association City Group. His prior experience includes six years in the marketing department at an AmLaw 200 firm in Atlanta and four years managing the marketing department for the Eglin Air Force Base Regional Hospital.
Bart Gabler is the Director of Pricing and Legal Project Management for K&L Gates. In this role, Bart collaborates with K&L Gates lawyers as well as senior firm management on developing, negotiating and implementing strategic pricing arrangements and client budgets. He also works directly with client service teams on pricing related issues, including helping to identify client business objectives, cost pressures, and pricing preferences.
In addition, Bart is responsible for developing, implementing and coordinating the firmwide matter management platform, ensuring appropriate training of lawyers and professional staff to use these tools, and implementing best practices in matter management. He coordinates across offices and practices to implement processes and tools to assist in matter planning and monitoring to help ensure effective and efficient matter management.
Goldstein is the Associate General Counsel & Director of Strategic Initiatives for the Legal, Corporate & Compliance Group at BMO Financial Group. As leader of the external counsel program, Goldstein assists in the ongoing implementation and development of an eBilling system, rationalizes the Preferred External Counsel Panel and moves the fees for delivery of outside legal services off of the billable hour to value based billing. Since BMO first started this program, it has moved from 0% value-based billing to its current 40%. Thanks to Goldstein, BMO is striving to get to 100% in the next couple of years.
In addition to eBilling, Goldstein provides training and 1:1 assistance to BMO lawyers in a new approach to working with its law firm partners. This has enabled BMO to receive the value expected for the appropriate fee. She also works with BMO law firms so that they price services in a way that better aligns with the goals and objectives of the bank. This initiative has entailed extensive change and communication management to ensure the new way of selecting, engaging and managing outside counsel is embraced by all stakeholder groups.
Herstein is a real estate attorney at Honigman Miller Schwartz and Cohn LLP with experience in the areas of finance, tax appeals, interest/usury and equine law. He is well-known for his writing on Michigan real property law and his authoritative work on Michigan usury law, which have been cited by the courts and utilized by practitioners. He has also worked extensively on the structure and documentation needed to settle complex real estate tax appeals. As the firm’s Chief Value Partner, he works extensively on legal project management, alternative fee structures and matters relating to the cost-efficient practice of law. Herstein has a B.A. in Political Science and History from University of Michigan and juris doctorate (J.D.) from Yale Law School.
Angela (Angie) Hickey is the Executive Director of Chicago law firm Levenfeld Pearlstein, LLC. She is a member of the firm's Executive Committee and Compensation Committee. Angie oversees all of the firm’s financial and operational functions, including business development, marketing, human resources and technology, and is responsible for the strategic development and execution of the firm-wide business plan.
A communication-focused leader, Angie has hosted "Ask Angie" open sessions for many years as a means of offering attorneys and staff meaningful financial and operational updates and providing them the opportunity to give their feedback.
Angie was recently named one of three "Women to Watch" by the Illinois CPA Society and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. This award recognizes women who have made a significant contribution to the accounting profession, their organizations, and the development of women as leaders. Angie currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors for Catholic Charities of Chicago, is on the Board of Advisors to the Dean of College of Business and Public Administration at Governors State University and is a member of the Council of 100, an Advisory Board to the Girl Scouts of Greater Chicago and Northwest Indiana.
Rebecca Holdredge serves as a manager in the firm’s Practice Economics Group (PEG), an innovative group focused on appropriate pricing and budgeting, as well as managing engagements to ensure work is completed successfully, on schedule, and within budget.
As part of her practice, Ms. Holdredge assists clients and lawyers in identifying ways to improve efficiency while maintaining and improving quality by leveraging technology and improving work processes. Her experience includes in-depth research into Bryan Cave’s matter experience and how to better capture and analyze it, developing creative pricing arrangements to meet client’s objectives, increasing the transparency of a client’s legal spend, and managing large portfolios of legal matters across offices and areas of law with the assistance of PEG’s proprietary software tools.
Jon leads Mintz Levin’s initiative to identify programs and solutions that enable the firm to be more flexible, responsive and transparent to its clients’ needs. Focusing on developing, analyzing and reporting on pricing models, alternatives to traditional billing arrangements, project management and the firm’s annual client satisfaction program, Jon works closely with firm leadership to design and execute Mintz Levin’s efforts to use pricing and matter management as a competitive advantage in the legal marketplace and a source of client satisfaction.
Prior to his current role, Jon led and managed the highly integrated, business development and marketing management team at Mintz Levin. With an emphasis on strengthening existing client relationships, identifying cross-marketing opportunities, and a disciplined approach to new client acquisition, the business development team at Mintz Levin provides business development, client development and practice development support across the firm’s practices and offices.
Before joining Mintz Levin, Jon was Executive Director and Director of Marketing at Woods Rogers, PLC in Roanoke, Virginia for a number of years and served in a similar capacity at Mello Jones & Martin in Hamilton, Bermuda for three years prior.
As Director of Legal Operations at Medtronic, Sheila works on a variety of strategic operations activities to develop and execute on the department’s short and long term operations plans including: developing and managing the legal department PMO; implementing innovative, efficient processes and technology solutions within the legal department; managing the MP3 preferred provider program; partnering with legal finance around annual operating plans, department budgets and forecasts; creating key metrics and reports and driving other cost control initiatives. In addition to her regular duties, Sheila serves on the Medtronic plc Covidien acquisition legal integration team (IMO).
Sally is Akin Gump’s Chief Operating Officer. In this role Sally works closely with the Firm’s Chairperson and is an ex-officio member of the management committee and is responsible for leading and directing all operational functions of the firm.
She is a senior international executive with experience in global operations, strategic planning, merger planning and integration, as well as finance and general management. Throughout her career she has worked closely with senior leaders in law firms and major corporations to significantly increase profitability and productivity by building, leading and motivating highly effective teams of professionals.
A London native and a dual national of the United Kingdom and the United States, Sally frequently writes and speaks on legal management topics and is active in numerous legal and business organizations, including the College of Law Practice Management, the British- American Business Counsel (of which she is a member of the Board of Directors), the Association of Legal Administrators ,the Large Law Firm Executive Director's Roundtable and the American Bar Association.
Kristina Lambright is the Strategic Pricing Manager for Akin Gump specializing in strategic pricing, matter analytics, profitability and legal project management. She works with partners firm wide to develop effective matter budgets, alternative fee and value based pricing arrangements.
She works with Akin's pricing team to create and implement budgeting and matter management tools; review and analyze practice group and matter-by-matter profitability; articulate reasons for variances to include rate, leverage, out of scope work; develop and model alternative fee and value-based billing arrangements; review and analyze additional financial information relevant to monitoring and profitability of existing matters and procuring new business.
Kristina also works with the Practice Management group and Akin's Business Development & Marketing teams to review and analyze metrics for both current and potential clients, develop proposals and respond to RFPs.
David Libesman provides the 9Dots team with strategic direction and enterprise sales experience in the Legal and Professional Services sector. David brings over 25 years of experience in the Legal Sector with the introduction of PCDOCS in the early 90’s to 8 of the top 10 Australia Law firms. In the same time period, he introduced a leading Business Intelligence platform Applix/TM1 to the Australia market place, delivering customized budgeting, forecasting and reporting solutions to over 50 Australian corporations.
In 1994, David designed and led the team in developing the Electronic Records Management module for the PCDOCS platform, with the eventual sale of the technology to Hummingbird in 2000.
Moving to the USA in 2000, David founded Satori Group, introducing proCube as its flagship Excel Cube technology to solve many of the financial data analytics challenges.
Over the past 15 years David has worked with over 40 AMLAW firms delivering Budgeting, Profitability, Dashboard and Business Intelligent solutions. Through 9Dots strategic partnership with Deltek, David introduced Maconomy to the USA legal market as a proven enterprise Legal Project Management and Pricing solution.
David received his Bachelor of Commerce from the University of New South Wales with a double major in Finance and Information Systems.
Paul is the Regional General Counsel-North America, of ArcelorMittal, the world’s leading steel and mining company. Before joining ArcelorMittal in August, 2009, Paul was an Assistant General Counsel at Tellabs, Inc.; a Vice President in the Law Department at Motorola; Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary for Motorola Nortel Communications, a joint venture between Motorola and Nortel; a Partner in the Corporate Department of Winston & Strawn; and Executive Director of the Inter-American Legal Services Association in Washington, D.C., a nonprofit corporation that promoted legal services for low-income groups in Latin America and the Caribbean. Paul received a B.A. from Tufts University, an M.A. from the John Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies and a J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center.
Catherine Alman MacDonagh, Esq. is Chief Enthusiasm Officer of The Mocktail and the Legal Mocktail™, experiential networking training exercises. She also has her own strategic planning, business development training and coaching practice, FIRM Guidance.
In addition, MacDonagh is adjunct faculty at Suffolk University Law School as well as George Washington University (Masters in Law Firm Management program). She is the co-author of two books: The Law Firm Associate’s Guide to Personal Marketing and Selling Skills with Beth Marie Cuzzone and The Woman Lawyer’s Rainmaking Game, now in its third edition, with Silvia Coulter, MPS.

Steven Manton is a Director of Pricing and Matter Management at McDermott Will & Emery LLP. Steven is responsible for the creation and development of the firm’s pricing and legal project management function across all of the firm’s offices.
Steven is a highly knowledgeable law and business graduate with a Masters qualification and twenty years of legal sector experience. Recognized as a leading law firm pricing, practice optimization and profitability specialist who regularly teaches and publishes on pricing legal services and building the law firm pricing function. Steven has management experience within forward thinking law firms, including a leading private equity/corporate finance boutique law firm in London, UK; one of the most prominent and reputable New York law firms; a leading National full service US law firm; and the world's most reputable global energy industry law firm.
Steven is active in the legal community and serves on the Advisory Council of the True Value Partnering Institute, a legal industry think tank and is also a member of the Research Advisory Board for the Client Value and Law Firm Profitability Report published by Jim Hassett Phd.
A senior product executive with extensive experience in product management, M&A analysis, and definition of corporate strategies, Laura brings diverse skills to Intapp, where she heads product management. In that role, she has overseen the expansion of Intapp’s product portfolio, integrated multiple acquired technologies, and built a skilled product team. Prior to Intapp Laura held Director and Sr. Director positions at Nuance Communications and at Tellme Networks (acquired by Microsoft). Keith Maziarek leads the strategic pricing efforts for DLA Piper’s Pricing/AFA Group, and in this capacity, has managed the development and implementation of the firm’s strategic pricing and profitability initiatives. This multi-faceted role has both internal and client-facing elements, involving the development of tools, procedures, resources and training, as well as complex data analysis, price modeling, cross-border engagement structuring, lawyer coaching and change management.
Keith has co-authored several published articles on the topic of alternative fee arrangements in connection with his work in this area, and also speaks regularly at industry conferences. He is currently co-chair of the LMA’s annual P3℠ Conference, the industry’s largest annual event addressing transformation in the legal industry related to pricing, project management and process improvement.
Prior to establishing the Pricing/AFA Group, Keith led the business development efforts of several key markets and national practice groups at DLA Piper and other AmLaw 200 firms. His scope of responsibilities in this capacity included market and industry research, strategic services targeting and client relations for clients in jurisdictions around the world.
Keith holds an M.B.A. from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, with majors in Management and Strategy, Managerial Economics, and Analytical Consulting, and a B.S. in Business Management from the University of Illinois-Chicago.

Eric S. Meltzer is a Managing Consultant in Legal Operations for RGP. He helps law departments, law firms and other legal industry professionals use culture, data, process and markets to develop leaders, improve value and deliver measurable results. Eric has worked with top leaders in the technology, apparel, entertainment, oil & gas, consumer goods, agribusiness and manufacturing sectors on a wide range of advisory projects, such as department reorganization, end-to-end legal operations solution design and legal services unbundling.
As a civil attorney, Meltzer developed a commercial and intellectual property practice, where he represented start-ups, non-profits, and Fortune 200 companies. Prior to his civil practice, he was a Law Fellow at the Institute for Governance & Sustainable Development in Washington, D.C.

Andy Peterson is an Innovative Solutions Strategist at Davis Wright Tremaine and a founding member of the firm's R&D Lab, DWT De Novo. His favorite conversations with attorneys start with them saying “I have no idea how to do this.” That’s when he goes to work helping attorneys attack opportunities on behalf of their clients, often on tight turnarounds. Peterson engages alternative staffing models, improves processes, applies alternative fee structures and leverages technology to solve problems. He has a particular interest in data visualization, unlocking the data we generate in our daily work and using it to provide actionable intelligence back to his customers. He has a background in Marketing and Business Development, and believes that the best ideas come from in-house clients, and their business clients.
Melissa C. Prince, Esq. is the legal project management program manager at Ballard Spahr LLP. Her role is to serve as a resource to firm attorneys and clients and to work closely with them to develop matter management tools, technology and resources that are focused on increasing client value, efficiency, transparency, cost-effectiveness and profitability. She also assists with budgeting, matter monitoring and management, process improvement and training.
Before coming to Ballard Spahr, Melissa worked at two other large firms where she specialized in legal project management and strategic pricing and provided support to several Fortune 500 clients. Prior to that, she was a complex commercial litigator at a large law firm and a business boutique and clerked in the New Jersey Chancery Division.

Sharon S. Quaintance is a Senior Director at HBR Consulting (formerly Hildebrandt Baker Robbins). Based in NYC, she co-leads HBR's Business Operations practice, which includes leading engagements to improve legal practice management, back-office service delivery and support staff efficiency. A successful entrepreneur, she is co-founder and former CEO of a cloud-based legal outsourcing company
Prior to her technology start-up career, Quaintance was with a Fortune 100 company, where she managed pricing of new business services in 40 states, including pricing of all contracts over $1 million. She also has served as a business process champion using formal Business Process Re-engineering (BPR), Total Quality Management (TQM) methodologies (predecessors of Six Sigma) resulting in more than $200 million in estimated annual savings.
Quaintance has been a member of Atlanta Technology Angels and actively follows new legal innovations. She is a frequent speaker and writer on legal industry emerging technology, change management and operational efficiency. She guest lecturers on entrepreneurship and strategic planning, and has been a judge of multiple MBA business case competitions. She has an MBA from Loyola Marymount University and a BA from University of Southern California.
Riley is an associate in the Litigation Department at Honigman Miller Schwartz and Cohn LLP. His multi-disciplinary litigation experience includes complex commercial litigation, commercial transactions, shareholder disputes, appellate advocacy and corporate restructuring. A graduate of Wayne State University Law School with a B.A. in Political Science from University of Michigan, Riley leads e-discovery projects and contract attorney teams under tight deadlines in state and federal courts, as well as serves the firm as a member of the Value Team and Summer Associate Committee, among other duties.
As the Director of Business of Law Consulting at Aderant, Daniel is an established thought leader on the business of law who has worked with more than 150 law firms across the globe, ranging from small and mid-size firms to several within the Am Law 20. He consults with firm leadership on adopting business intelligence solutions, establishing profit reporting methodologies, developing partner compensation systems, instituting pricing programs and overall change management with the goal of helping firms improve matter management, inventory turnover and profitability. Daniel has been a feature presenter on these topics at numerous partner retreats and industry conferences.
Daniel earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management with a minor in Economics from Virginia Commonwealth University. Prior to joining Redwood, he worked for more than five years in business development and financial analysis in the technology and media sectors.
Rubin works with executives and lawyers to achieve budgetary goals, and knows how companies make law firm hiring decisions. In addition, she was General Counsel for two global organizations and can advise law firms and in-house counsel on improving working relationships and alternative fee arrangements. Finally, Rubin has in-depth experience managing the full range of staff functions, including Finance, IT, Human Resources, Facilities, Compliance, Community Service, Diversity, Client Satisfaction, Marketing and Professional Development.
Purvi Sanghvi is the Director of Strategic Pricing at Paul Hastings, which has been ranked one of the five most innovative law firms by The Financial Times for three years in a row. She is responsible for creating the platform upon which pricing strategies are implemented across the firm globally. Her team oversees pricing management, develops and analyzes alternative fee arrangements, and creates budgets for complex client matters. She is responsible for pricing strategies for the firm’s top clients, often interacting with them directly as another face of the relationship. In all of these responsibilities, she works closely with firm clients and partners to develop innovative, efficient, and results-oriented solutions. Ms. Sanghvi has been involved in the creation of law firm pricing strategies since 2007 and has been on the forefront of shaping how they service the legal industry. Prior to Paul Hastings, she launched strategic pricing functions at several law firms. She has written articles on pricing and is often asked to speak on pricing related topics. Purvi has served as the co-chair of the LMA P3 Conference (Pricing, Project Management, and Practice Innovation) for 2014 and 2015.
Purvi holds an MBA from The Carroll School of Management at Boston College and an undergraduate degree in Finance and International Management from the Boston University School of Management.
In February 2014, Catherine Schmidt joined Dechert as a Senior Financial Analyst in the Project Management department. She was promoted to Manager, Matter Analytics and Pricing in January 2016. Ms. Schmidt works closely with the firm’s CFO and partners to model and recommend pricing strategies aligned with the firm’s overall business objectives. Additionally, she analyzes financial information to assist with RFP submissions and crafting alternative fee arrangements. Ms. Schmidt works with the team to track matter performance and conducts a budget comparison to determine cost effectiveness.
Before joining Dechert, Ms. Schmidt was a Senior Financial Analyst at a leading global provider of print and multichannel solutions for consumer magazines, special interest publications, direct mail and books. She gained extensive knowledge in forecasting, budgeting, financial analysis and customer profitability by various platforms. Prior to her term as a Senior Financial Analyst, she gained experience as a Legal Assistant to a private criminal defense attorney in Trenton, New Jersey.
Peter Secor concentrates on legal project management and componentized pricing, with focuses of improving efficiencies through shared management responsibilities, strengthening communication and making value transparent. He has assisted in the strategic pricing, project management and monitoring of hundreds of engagements of all sizes for a wide variety of legal practice areas. Mr. Secor has developed and utilizes non-hours-based componentized relational budgeting tools and systems, enabling quick and accurate pricing of engagements. He also, assists in constructing suitable alternative fees, facilitates their approvals, and provides relationship consultation for both partners and clients.
Joseph Sgroi is a bankruptcy, restructuring and commercial transactions attorney at Honigman Miller Schwartz and Cohn LLP who deals with corporate financial difficulty and complex supply chain disputes. In what are often complicated, fast-paced and constantly evolving situations, he finds ways to deliver value by providing creative solutions with the client’s business goals in mind.
Sgroi represents a wide range of businesses from different industries, including automotive and manufacturing. He is the leader of the firm’s Bankruptcy, Reorganization and Creditor Rights Practice Group and has extensive experience representing debtors, creditors, creditors’ committees, customers, lenders and equity holders in bankruptcies, financial restructurings, liquidations and out-of-court workouts. He also serves as the firm’s Associate Chief Value Partner, where he leads Honigman’s efforts to deliver value to its clients on a consistent basis, including through the implementation of legal project management, process improvement and knowledge management, as well as the use of alternative fee arrangements and value pricing. Sgroi is also a National Football League Players Association Certified Contract Advisor (NFL Agent) and represents athletes and coaches in connection with the various legal issues that they face during their athletic careers and beyond, whether it is contract negotiations, business investments, marketing deals or the selection of other critical professional advisors.
Bill Sowinski directs all decision support services at ELM Solutions. In this role, Bill leads an expert team in the design of client legal spend analyses and benchmarking disciplines based on each organization’s specific needs. He works with clients to structure and analyze their legal data, helping to develop and deploy measured strategies that improve legal and claims department performance. A litigation expert and a pioneer in the legal analytics space, Bill has extensive experience working with key clients across myriad industries.
Bill has over thirty-five years of domestic and international management and operations experience in the legal and claims industry. A member of the American Bar Association, DRI the Voice of the Defense Bar, and the Claims & Litigation Management Alliance (CLM), he has also been designated a Certified Litigation Management Professional by the CLM. Bill earned bachelor degrees, magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, in philosophy and political science from Marquette University, and his JD from Marquette University Law School. He also is a graduate of the Executive Program at the University of Minnesota Carlson School of Management.
Brandon Spurlock has over 14 years of experience in the legal industry. He is currently a Senior Vice President at Strategic Legal Solutions, which provides consultative legal outsourcing solutions that involve technology, legal process development & implementation, project management, and staffing. Brandon began his career as a litigator handling complex litigation matters in the areas of employment, securities and class action law. He practiced at two AmLaw 100 firms and the Department of Justice before transitioning to the alternative legal services industry. For the past five years, he has focused on client relations and consultative support to corporate law departments and law firms in developing solutions to complex legal outsourcing challenges for both litigation and transactional matters. A native of Chicago, Brandon received his J.D. from Northwestern University with an academic concentration in civil litigation and dispute resolution. Prior to becoming an attorney, Brandon served five years in the United States Marine Corps as an intelligence operator participating in Operation Southern Watch within the Persian Gulf region.
Madhav Srinivasan is the Chief Financial Officer at Hunton & Williams LLP, leading the global finance and pricing organizations. He has extensive experience in legal financial management combined with a deep background in corporate finance, financial consulting, capital markets and international business. He has published articles in leading journals and been a speaker at major conferences. Madhav is adjunct faculty at Columbia Law School and teaches a graduate level course on Law Firm Finance and Management.
Brian is the General Manager of Axiom’s Midwest region and has responsibility for client relationships, talent recruiting and retention, services deployment and operations in the Midwest. Brian is also the Corporate Transactions Services Lead for the Midwest and West, In these roles, Brian works with over 75 corporate clients to structure flexible, scalable resourcing solutions to cope with internal and external pressures.

Sales and Marketing Management Magazine named Mr. Stock a “Sales & Marketing Pioneer” and “Motivator of the Year” for his work in implementing sales systems in the legal industry.
He is frequent speaker on law firm client development, technology and video. Adam has helped run the Legal Marketing Technology Conference for the last 5 years. He is Chair of the 2016 Legal Marketing Technology Conference/West and sits on the LMA – Bay Area Chapter Board. Rodney Stone is the Director of Professional Responsibility for Baker & McKenzie. He has been in this role for three years and lives in Chicago.
He is responsible for all professional and client issues in the Firm's 77 offices around the world. This includes generally any matter arising under the rules of professional conduct to which the Firm's lawyers are subject, including conflicts of interest, matters of client selection, and, in general, all other issues of ethical behavior which are relevant to the practice of law in Baker & McKenzie's offices. This also includes being ultimately responsible for agreeing engagement terms with the Firm's clients.
Rodney was formerly a partner in the Sydney office of Baker & McKenzie where he practiced in the area of corporate law, with a particular emphasis on financial services. He became a partner in July 1985. He was recognized as a leading Australia corporate lawyer, having been listed in the prestigious Best Lawyers: Australia, 2008 and 2009.
Jeffrey Suhr joined DFTech in 2005 and has 20 years of legal/financial systems experience. In his role at Data Fusion, Jeff is involved in the product management, marketing and consulting areas of the IntelliStat Analytics, Matter Planning & Pricing, Budgeting and Financial Reporting products. He possesses a fundamental understanding of general law firm business analysis and accounting practices while also serving as an expert in industry “best practices” for client profitability measurement & analysis.

John Strange is the Director of Pricing and Project Management at Baker Botts L.L.P. As a member of the senior leadership team, John is responsible for the development, coordination and execution of the Firm’s pricing strategies, improvement of service delivery models, monitoring of financial performance and general practice support. John’s prior experience includes two years as the director of pricing at Vinson & Elkins LLP, four years as manager of legal administration at Altria and ten years with Shook, Hardy, and Bacon. He co-chaired the 2013 and 2014 LMA P3 conferences and is a member of the ALA and ILTA.
Peter Tomczak is a member of the Steering Committee of Baker & McKenzie’s North America Litigation and Government Enforcement Practice Group, and the Chair of its Chicago Office Litigation and Government Enforcement Practice Group. He joined Baker & McKenzie in 2003, after having served as a law clerk for the Delaware Court of Chancery. His principal areas of practice are corporate internal investigations, US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act matters and complex business disputes.

At Axiom Global, Williams was a member of the Global Planning Committee and served as Senior Vice President, leading the Managed Discovery Business with operations in the US, Belfast and India. He built and led a high-performance management team spanning HR, Operations, Facilities, Finance, Business Development, Technology and Project Management. His leadership in introducing new products and services and improving customer service resulted in 80% repeat business and 100% revenue growth in the first year.
As Partner for almost 17 years at DLA Piper, Williams played a key role in the firm’s international expansion into Asia and the Middle East. He spent four years with the firm in China, serving as Managing Partner in Beijing.

Jerry serves as the Front Office Sales Executive for MatterSphere helping firms better align internal technologies to produce a more consistent work product while operating with greater efficiency. Before joining the Thomson Reuters Elite sales team, Jerry was a client serving as a Marketing Technology Manager for a large law firm in the southeast.
Christian Zust serves as the Director of the Client Technology Group at Bryan Cave. The group was created as a kind of sanctioned "skunk works" charged with research into new technologies and development of technology-augmented solutions that would help deliver improved, more cost-effective service to clients. The Client Technology Group stands alongside of but separate from traditional IT functions within the firm. It has created and continues to create a wide range of solutions that help streamline legal work processes and permit Bryan Cave to operate with the unprecedented efficiency now demanded in today’s highly competitive legal marketplace. The work of the Client Technology Group has been widely recognized and has led to awards from CIO magazine, CTO magazine, American Lawyer Media, Incisive Media, the International Legal Technology Association and other organizations.
