Catherine is a former corporate counsel and law firm executive who now teaches and provides training and consulting services in process improvement and project management, strategic planning, marketing, and business development.
A Legal Lean Sigma® Black Belt and a certified Six Sigma Green Belt, Catherine is the CEO and a Founder of the Legal Lean Sigma Institute, which offers consulting and the first and only process improvement and project management certifications, courses, and workshops designed for the legal profession. In addition to creating Legal Lean Sigma®, Catherine invented the Legal WorkOut®, a collaborative method for engaging in process improvement.
She is the Chief Enthusiasm Officer of Mocktails, LLC, which offers both the Legal Mocktail and The Mocktail, experiential networking training programs. Catherine offers business development training and coaching as well as strategic planning services in her practice, FIRM Guidance.
A highly rated educator, Catherine is an adjunct professor at Suffolk Law School, George Washington University (Master’s in Law Firm Management) and Northwestern Pritzker School of Law. She is the author of Lean Six Sigma for Law Firms, a contributing author to The Lawyer’s Guide to Project Management, The Bigger Picture: Driving Client Value Through Collaboration, The Lawyer’s Guide to Process Improvement, and The Procurement Handbook, and the co-author of The Woman Lawyer's Rainmaking Game and The Law Firm Associate's Guide to Personal Marketing and Selling Skills.
Honors and awards Catherine has received include: Fellow, College of Law Practice Management; Legal Marketing Association Hall of Fame (the association’s highest honor); Boston Business Journal’s 40 Under 40; two years on the prestigious MLF 50 (Marketing the Law Firm Top 50) List; and several Legal Marketing Association Your Honor Awards.
Catherine is a founder of both the Legal Sales and Service Organization and the Coalition of Professional Services Providers. She served on the Legal Marketing Association’s International Board, as New England Chapter President for two terms, and on many LMA committee and task forces, including Co-Chair of the Education as well as the Sponsor Relations Committee. She is a member of the Association of Legal Administrators, where she volunteers on the Uniform Process Based Management System Committee.
Catherine lives in Massachusetts with her family, which includes three Havanese dogs. She is a volunteer for The Woodward School and The University of Miami Circle.
