On behalf of the LMA and the 2019 Annual Conference Advisory Committee, we invite you to join us in Atlanta on April 8–10, 2019 to participate in the industry’s most significantannual event.

As a Top Ten city in the United States, Atlanta boasts a thriving economy with the world headquarters of Coca-Cola, Home Depot, UPS, Delta Air Lines, Georgia-Pacific, and Turner Broadcasting. It ranks third among cities with the highest Fortune 500 concentrations, sixth in the United States for corporate innovation, and has the third fastest-growing metro area in the nation. With its corporate bustle, booming film industry, mix of eclectic residents and roots in southern hospitality, Atlanta will prove a welcoming and energizing venue for you to learn, discover and share with more than 1,500 peers across the legal marketing and business development community.

You spoke, we listened.

Last year, we received the largest number of feedback reviews in LMA conference history. We reviewed them diligently and networked fanatically to get you the content you crave. We are proud to report that this year’s programming offers that essential content, and we commit to you that the practical takeaways you will receive (combined with the opportunities for guided discussion with your peers) will better position you to lead your firm through this era of transformation. The 2019 agenda features topics such as:

  • Business of Law: alternative legal service providers and legal disruptors; industry and practice group sector strategy; competitive intelligence insights; succession planning and leveraging outside resources
  • Business Development: business plans; client pitches; sales functions; client feedback and lawyer coaching
  • Client Services: The Next Big Thing; alumni programs; creativity, collaboration and innovation; design thinking
  • Communications: digital marketing; social media masterclass; thought leadership strategies, branding, and leveraging content
  • Marketing Management and Leadership: career development for mid-career professionals; developing future leaders
  • Marketing Technology: digital marketing strategies; experience and proposal management tools and resources; CRM therapy;
and applying AI to your MarTech.

Ever wondered what it would be like to have equity ownership in a law firm?

We are captivated by California’s conversations around reform to ABA Rule 5.4, which governs “non lawyer” ownership of law firms. So much so that we asked the legal pundit on the issue to join us with an update on the status of potential reform at the opening of our conference. You will not want to miss it.

Why Atlanta?
Entertainment and the great outdoors. Seriously, what more could better complement a conference?

Looking to get your first big break as the movie extra who became a star? Known as the “Hollywood of the South,” Atlanta is third in the United States for filming credits behind California and New York and has played the backdrop to more than 140 films and TV shows since 2008. Ever watch Ozark or The Walking Dead? Yep, that’s Atlanta.

Into food and drink? As a Zagat-ranked “most exciting” food city, Atlanta has you covered…and then some. Want to try every kind of
Coca-Cola possible? You are in luck. (Just don’t break into the secret vault.) Looking for a micro-brewery? Try Sweetwater Brewery and order the famous Sweetwater 420 — you will not be disappointed.

Want to take advantage of Atlanta’s warm weather and beautiful outdoors (Atlanta is actually 53.9 percent covered in trees)? Run the
Beltline, climb Stone Mountain or enjoy some fun at Piedmont Park. Need to cool off? “Shoot the Hooch” and mosey down a natural lazy river, the Chatahoochee, on a raft. Or, continue the adventure and dive into the Aquarium’s 10 million-gallon tank to swim with the sharks.

Further, and more significant than activities, Atlanta is privileged to be the home town of Martin Luther King, Jr., and the location for his famous 1967 speech, “Where Do We Go From Here?”

We hope you will join us in Atlanta to make new connections and share ideas that will shape the future of the legal marketing and business
development industry, and to experience the genuine and welcoming warmth of the LMA community. Atlantans mind their manners, believe in a strong community bond and use y’all as the pronoun it should be.

See you soon, y’all!
