While the pricing analytics and matter management functions in firms have been under construction for some time, many firms are struggling to implement a formal internal process whereby the partnership is expected to follow established pricing guidelines when setting budgets and alternative fee arrangements for clients. Establishing a mechanism for review and approval of proposed pricing structures can be tricky. It involves a great deal of buy-in from not only the partnership but also from the business management side of the firm as well.
This session will discuss where firms are today with respect to pricing governance, how the marketing department and project management department in a firm can work together to create guidance for partners with respect to early stage matter development with clients, and best practices for implementing a pricing and alternative fee arrangement review and approval process in the face of skepticism from an ambivalent partnership.
