Harvard Law School Executive Education piloted the Sector Leadership MasterClass in London last spring. In response to US demand, HLS Executive Education is teaching the second iteration of the Sector Leadership MasterClass on December 7-8th, 2017 in New York.
In general terms, the MasterClass covers: (1) Why firms should adopt a sector approach, (2) What a sector approach looks like, and (3) How a firm can go about implementing this organizational change. The curriculum includes client strategy and smart collaboration techniques for sector leaders, setting firm-wide strategy and allocating the proper resources to it, motivating professionals to change behaviors to implement the strategy, and the necessary performance metrics for sector analytics. The MasterClass also includes guided roundtable conversations and exercises to solve sector challenges, so that participants walk away with practical applications for executing the strategy.
This MasterClass is for CMOs, CxOs, sector leaders, and other senior firm leaders involved in the firm’s discussion around industry sectors. HLS Executive Education encourages firm cohorts as the experience in London suggests that firms got the most out of the MasterClass when the CxO or other senior administrator overseeing the sector strategy attended along with a couple partners (ideally, current or potential sector leaders).
