While some attorneys have a natural desire to engage in business development, most benefit from instruction, support and motivation in this area of their practices.
One effective way to train and motivate your lawyers in business development is through custom-designed exercises and games that can take advantage of attorneys’ inherently competitive nature. Games can be an effective way to address some of the excuses and anxieties that may be preventing your attorneys from engaging in business development.
In this interactive session, participants will explore how to custom-design and use games and exercises suited to each firm’s business development priorities, practice structure and culture.
Specifically, the group will:
Review the psychology and social science research that emphasizes the value of interactive games in teaching and reinforcing interpersonal and judgment skills;
Review components in all games;
Design and play games;
Discuss effective communication and facilitation of game-based programs, including the fundamental steps of the debriefing process.
Takeaways include game templates, a list of debrief questions and a learning grid for business development activities.
