On September 26, members of all three LMA Mid-Atlantic Local Groups gathered to celebrate the amazing work of our members and their firms throughout the region. This year’s Your Honor Awards recognized excellence in technology and communications as well as individuals who have made significant contributions to the region and the legal marketing industry.
We are pleased to announce the winners of the 2017 Your Honor Awards:
Body of Knowledge, Technology Management: Orrick – Direct Lending Web Portal
Orrick was recognized in this category for developing the first legal portal for the corporate direct lending community. The site offers fast, simple solutions to a wide variety of common issues that arise in direct lending transactions. The home-grown cross collaboration effort has seen tremendous results: in the first three months, the site registered 2,021 sessions and 1,348 unique users and has helped put Orrick’s growing direct lending team on the map. Since its launch, it has opened the door to new client relationships. Those who were impressed by the practical nature and usefulness of the site and appreciated access to basic legal tools in a self-serve manner and free of charge, have since started working with Orrick’s team on more complex loan transactions that require hands-on legal advice.
Body of Knowledge, Communication: Goodwin – Goodwin Brand
Goodwin was recognized in this category for creating a powerful, authentic brand that truly differentiates it from the rest of the industry. After two years of internal exploration and external research and analysis, Goodwin took a bold step to engage a world-class marketing agency to help break the mold. The result is a modern and sophisticated brand that boasts a shortened firm name (Goodwin, from Goodwin Procter), striking new logo and a bold brand promise of unprecendented. It expresses the true essence of the firm in a purpose-driven brand. The internal brand team carried the “client-first” messaging and positioning through every level of communication (including conducting internal town halls) and layer of content curation, from front loading the new website with case studies and thought leadership focused on client impact, to revising every piece of collateral and proposal material. The response to the brand by clients, employees, and others has been overwhelmingly positive.
Member of the Year: Gina Eliadis, Content Manager, Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz P.C.
Gina Eliadis, the Vice Chair of the Baltimore Local Steering Committee (LSC), was recognized for her contributions to the Baltimore LSC and the broader Mid-Atlantic Region. She has managed to accomplish this all while her firm underwent the biggest merger in firm history. Gina’s nominator said, “She handled every situation with grace and ease and didn't miss a beat…she has a unique way of connecting the dots between what's happening in the world and how it relates to how we can do our jobs differently and better.
