She has been an LMA member since 2010 when she entered the legal marketing industry, and quickly became involved by regularly attending programs, networking and volunteering. In 2012, a team she led won the National Your Honor Award for the Events category – a wonderful recognition!

Chris Hummel
Immediate Past President
, 2017 LMA Mid-Atlantic Regional Board
Marketing Director, Banner & Witcoff

Chris just celebrated ten years with Banner & Witcoff, a growing IP boutique.  During that time, he has really enjoyed getting to know the lawyers and the IP market.  He leads the firm’s marketing, business development and communications efforts and supports attorney recruiting, professional development, and the summer associate program, as well as running the firm’s attorney retreats.  He enjoys working across these different disciplines, because it helps him better understand the clients, the attorneys and the firm.

After ten years in a corporate marketing career with EDS, Chris first joined LMA in 2003 while working at Covington & Burling, his first law firm.  Covington colleagues Kelly Stuart and Deirdre Christin were already LMA pros and convinced him to get involved.  Soon thereafter, he joined the Board of Directors of the Capital Chapter – then known as the Mid-Atlantic Chapter -- and served five years as Treasurer and then President (2009).  That was a tough year to be a Chapter President; economically it was a tough year for many law firms.  But the Board kept its focus on serving the needs of our members, many of whom were in transition, and it was the first year they hosted the Chapter’s Half Day Program.  Chris has served on and co-chaired LMA International committees and is excited to rejoin the local Board this year, as the Immediate Past President.

Chris and his partner, Craig, and their basenji, Harper, recently bought a new home in the Logan/Shaw area, and have been spending the fall getting settled.  They’re planning a few trips in 2016, and the first will be an escape to warmer weather in February!  He is looking forward to the year when the Nationals finally make it to the World Series, GO NATS!

She joined LMA in 2010 as a member of the Capital Chapter and Baltimore City Group, and served as chair of the Baltimore City Group from 2013-2016.  She was a member of the Capital Chapter’s Communications Committee and the Baltimore City Group’s Programming Committee.  Jenna will be serving as Treasurer on the Mid-Atlantic Regional Board, and will also be on the board’s Finance and Sponsorship Committees.

Jenna spends her free time traveling, running, practicing yoga, and enjoying good food (and good wine) with good friends. She lives in Annapolis, MD with her husband, Mario, and their rescue puppy, Afton.

Business Development Manager, Environment, Antitrust, Transportation, and Insurance Practice Group, Steptoe & Johnson

Kara joined LMA within three months of starting in this industry, which enabled her to build her network and increase her knowledge of the industry. She has previously served as co-chair of the Future Leaders SIG and on the Events, Membership, and Nomination Committees.  Now that she is on the Regional Board, she is excited to help our region and members transition to this new structure and to continue to make LMA the a great resource for members.

Kara is an avid traveler and takes a 2-3 week trip abroad every other year and does mini-trips in between. She has been through most of Western Europe, a fair amount of Eastern Europe, Southeast Asia, Egypt, took her first trip to South America (Peru) earlier this year, and is currently planning trips to Colombia and Indonesia. She is also a voracious reader and almost always has more than one book going at a time: commuting book, bedtime book, weekend book, etc.  Kara is an animal lover and advocate of pet adoption – she adopted her cat, Byron, eight years ago. She just had her year anniversary with Toastmasters and is a lifelong Packers fan.

Christina Llames
Director, 2017 LMA Mid-Atlantic Regional Board
Marketing Communications Manager, LeClairRyan

Since her start in the industry, Christina has been a member of LMA, serving on The Virginias Chapter Board for 10 years including as President in 2009.  Christina credits everything she knows about legal marketing to LMA, calling it a “critical driver” in her professional successes.  When she heard about the regionalization, she jumped on the opportunity to give back to the organization and its Mid-Atlantic membership by serving on the Board.

Christina spends her free time volunteering at a retired racing greyhound adoption and rescue center, a cause near and dear to her and her three greyhounds’ hearts.  When she’s not volunteering, you’ll find Christina perfecting her signature move, the tofu hook, on the lyra (i.e. aerial hoop) at circus class.  (Think Cirque du Soleil, not Barnum and Bailey.)
