LMANE19 Speaker Q&A with Jeff Berardi

Berardi Jeff 2019.jpgJeff Berardi is the Chief Marketing & Communications Officer (CMCO) and a Senior Managing Director at Ankura in Boston, MA. As CMCO, Jeff leads a global team of marketing professionals who support Ankura’s operations in offices around the world. He oversees brand development, creative direction, strategic planning, marketing, and communications, among other areas. Prior to joining Ankura, Jeff served as the chief marketing officer for K&L Gates, an international corporate law firm with 45 offices on five continents. While at K&L Gates, Jeff was responsible for managing marketing, business development, and sales, leading a team of nearly 100 professionals. Jeff’s broad experience makes him the perfect moderator for his session, “Successfully Navigating Disruption and Change—Professionally and Personally.” We asked Jeff about what he hopes attendees will take away from the conference and why they shouldn’t miss this learning experience.

Why did you submit to present at the LMANE19 conference?

As a longtime member of the LMA, I try to meet and get to know as many members of the legal marketing and business development community as I can. The topic that I submitted to the conference was based on those frequent interactions and discussions, as I felt that this was a subject that people might want to hear more about.

What are you hoping attendees learn from your presentation?

We have assembled an outstanding and diverse group of panel members who will be discussing how to effectively manage change on both a professional and personal level.  Although they each have unique perspectives to share, the common thread of the speakers in this session is that they all have significant knowledge and familiarity within the legal marketing/BD field. Furthermore, all of the panelists have experienced and overcome varying degrees of change during the progression of their respective careers. It’s hard to argue with the notion that new entrants and challengers within the legal industry have disrupted the traditional law firm model. I’m hoping that attendees will learn a bit more about how to cope with stressful situations and to take advantage of opportunities that inevitably arise as a part of that ongoing disruption.

What are you personally expecting to get out of this year's LMANE19 conference?

I strongly believe in the value of the LMA community and the benefits of sharing ideas and stories with one another. I am sure that there will many programs and content offered that will provide me with ideas and thoughts on how to better approach challenges that I face within my own organization.

What are you most looking forward to from the LMANE19 conference?

That’s an easy one – it would definitely have to be reconnecting with old friends and colleagues. I can’t wait to see everyone in November!
