A new member but a long time legal marketing practitioner, Jill Vandegriff, Business Development & Marketing Manager for Wooden McLaughlin in Indianapolis attended LMA Midwest Tech as a scholarship recipient. “As our firm’s first full-time dedicated marketing position, it is my belief that hearing, understanding and learning about other firm’s best practices would be beneficial,” Vandegriff said. “Our firm has just uploaded a new website (WoodenLawyers.com) and the tips and techniques the presenters shared about developing content to fit strategy as well as the business development case behind that were eye-opening will prove valuable as we take our firm to the next level.”
Jill also appreciates the information presented that shows business development does not have to be a difficult process for attorneys to grasp, learn and implement. It is like any other learned activity, process or habit. She is delighted to explore the tools highlighted and looks forward to sharing them with the members of the Wooden marketing committee to develop a Wooden University concept for associates and partners. “Having the background from Tim Corcoran’s excellent presentation will certainly help make the case for this initiative,” she added.
Jill also enjoyed the sessions that discussed collaboration between departments like library and marketing. “I’m not really aware of what these individuals do within our firm so I’ll be investigating the types of projects we can partner on and look forward to sharing information with my colleagues about opportunities,” she said. She also appreciated hearing others share their experiences with podcasting, business development training and tools for the legal profession, and client experience case studies.
All in all, Jill firmly believes that making the time investment in this conference will decrease opportunities for confusion and increase opportunities for success for her firm. She is most appreciative of LMA’s dedication to making opportunities like this possible for members through the scholarship.
