While so many aspects of our lives have changed in the past six months, our Regional Board of Directors and Local Steering Committee Leaders held true to “our why” and continued to deliver on the LMA mission in service to our members albeit in adjusted and more unique ways than we ever have done before. The Southwest Local Steering Committees collaborated to provide unique, virtual programming and to foster networking and connecting. We hosted multiple bingo game nights, coffee meet-ups, scavenger hunts, happy hours and other fun virtual social events. We are extremely proud of our Region program, “Historical Lessons from the Great Recession: What Law Firm C-Suite Executives Say About Recovering from COVID-19.” Through September this year, we have hosted 26 programs and eight social events, and the majority of these were held in a virtual environment.
Our Region Board has committed to learn together and to discuss race, diversity, equity and inclusion. The board participated in the D&I SIG’s August Book Club, and we continue that conversation at our monthly board meetings through October. In our upcoming BOD/Leadership Transition & Training Meeting, our 2020 and 2021 BOD and LSC leaders together will explore how to turn a vision and a moment into a movement – the process you can follow to make change happen. We are three-quarters of the way into our LMANext program. Participants have enjoyed bi-monthly programming and 1-on-1 connections between mentors and protégés since January.
Moving forward, we are excited for our first virtual Southwest Region Your Honor Award Ceremony live on October 29th at 6:00PM CT. Our expanded YHA this year will include awards for initiative-based projects and individual awards. Join us for this celebration of our members’ hard work, creativity and impact made on the legal marketing community. Bonus! We are hosting a Halloween-spirited After-Party immediately following the YHA Awards Program with trivia, costumes, conversation and continued celebration! Come dressed in your most fantastic, fun, frightening or freaky fabulous Halloween costume (and keep it appropriate for general audience viewing) and be ready for conversation, trivia and revelry. Prizes will be given for best costume, trivia winners and more!
I am immensely proud of the Southwest Region Board, our Local Steering Committee leadership in Austin, Dallas, Denver, Houston, Phoenix, and New Orleans/Baton Rouge, and our many volunteers for meeting the challenges that have faced us while continuing to deliver on member value. Our 2021 Board of Directors and Local Steering Committee Leaders are a strong group that will no doubt carry forward and fortify the good things that we have put into place this year. As we head into the final quarter of the year, we maintain our focus on member value and member needs. Mission before self.
