Meet Your LMA Annual Conference Speakers

Each weekend, the LMA Southwest Region will highlight its members who are presenting during the LMA Annual Conference in April. This weekend, we are excited to introduce Gillian Ward, Vanessa Petrea and Tracey (Serber) Silver!

Gillian Ward

Chief Marketing Officer, Baker Botts LLP

What is the title of your presentation and what topics will you cover? “Making it or Faking it - Effective Industry Strategy Workshop," which will take place on Tuesday afternoon. This is going to be a highly interactive session with tables working on an actual case study, sharing ideas and learning from one another. [It] will be informative and fun!

What inspired you to speak on this topic?

Seems to be we are all moving into this space to some degree and together, with Lizzy Duffy from Acritas, we have some great ideas to share based on our experience and data.

Who should attend and what do you want them to walk away with knowing that they may not have before?

Mid-level or senior managers who have been tasked with or are thinking about developing a go-to-market strategy based on industries or sectors. We will provide you with a road map and the tools to develop your plan of action.

What are you most excited about at the LMA Conference this year?

I haven’t been able to make the conference for a couple of years, so I am really looking forward to gaining some new ideas for myself and of course connecting with old friends

Vanessa Petrea

Senior Business Development Manager, Pillsbury

Tracey (Serber) Silver

Pitches and Pursuits Manager, Hogan Lovells

What is the title of your presentation and what topics will you cover?

The title is “Building Your Proposal Technology Blueprint,” and our panel presentation will cover proposal elements and help attendees evaluate technology resources to address proposal needs. Attendees will have an opportunity to complete an actionable blueprint to take back to their firms. Other panelists include Tracey (Serber) Silver, Denice Jayaram and Ger Thor.

What inspired you to speak on this topic?

Tracey (Serber) Silver and I worked on a survey with LMA to learn more about how firms are managing proposals. The results surprised us as nearly 80% of respondents admitted to not having a proposal tool. We wanted to provide attendees with a well-defined road map to researching and evaluating various proposal tools.

Who should attend and what do you want them to walk away with knowing that they may not have before?

We recommend anyone in a position of influence that is considering investing in a new proposal tool or changing tools. We hope attendees walk away with some new perspective around the various proposal tools options available to them and if how to leverage technology and resources effectively.

What are you most excited about at the LMA Conference this year?

The first LMA conference I ever attended was in Atlanta in 2008 where I met lifelong friends and mentors. Every LMA Conference I’ve attended has been memorable, but Atlanta is special. I’m excited to reconnected with friends and colleagues and learn from industry experts.
