|Marketing Director, Walsworth WFBM, LLP|
1. How did you start working in the legal industry?
I started my career after college working for a commercial real estate investment bank. I had worked there for over six years and thought the people and industry were great, but wanted to try another industry to see if there was something better. I explored jobs in accounting and legal. I was offered a job at a now defunct law firm in downtown Los Angeles, and I never looked back.
2. What advice would you offer to someone new to the industry?
After sixteen years and four law firms, my greatest advice is the same I would give to attorneys today – it's all about the relationships. Developing relationships with the attorneys, firm departments, and marketing colleagues inside and outside of the firm, are all incredibly valuable to your professional career.
3. What successes have you enjoyed in the legal industry?
I have worked with a number of colleagues throughout my legal career. My greatest successes have been in mentoring colleagues and seeing them grow in their careers.
4. Why did you join LMA and is it the same reason you are still a member?
I was brand new to the industry and new to the region. LMA seemed to be a great fit for me to meet new people and learn about the job. Today, it's about the relationships. I enjoy networking and interacting with experienced people in the industry. It's a great way to get inspired and be creative.
5. What would people be most surprised to learn about you?
I serve on the Board of Directors for the Warren Christopher Scholarship Foundation. I am fortunate enough to work with LAUSD students who are pursuing a higher education. It has been an absolute pleasure to see students progress through high school, college, post-graduate programs, and into their professional careers.
6. What is your favorite thing to do when you are not at work?
When not in the office, I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling and trying new restaurants. All recommendations for new restaurants in any city are welcome. My husband and I keep a list.
