Call for Speakers for 2019 Programs in Philadelphia

Each year, the Legal Marketing Association works to produce high-quality, timely programming for legal marketing professionals in the Philadelphia region. Attendees range from junior- to senior-level in-house marketing professionals, to consultants to service providers. Many of these individuals are responsible for the development and management of marketing strategy at their law firms and companies. 

We are currently seeking speakers for our monthly 2019 Philadelphia lunch programs. Most venues are near the Center City business district and educational programs are often livestreamed to locations in Western Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware.
 
We are in search of programs that will be relevant to audiences seeking to increase value for their clients, both internally and externally. Programs should be solution-oriented, proactive in nature and innovative, focusing on legal marketing (including business development and communications) as a vital part of the law firm’s business landscape.
Proposed sessions should be structured using one of the following formats:
 
  • Panels: Minimum two and maximum four speakers* with a moderator in a conversational format.
  • Workshops: Interactive session led by minimum of two speakers* and should include worksheets or other in-session activities.
  • Case Studies: Led by minimum of two speakers* who will present, by giving real-life examples, a study on an idea that was brought to fruition.
*We strongly encourage that proposed sessions include a variety of law firm and service provider representation among the speakers.
 
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
Proposals should follow the below format:
  • Title and presentation abstract (please limit to 500 words).
  • Educational objectives: What will attendees learn from the presentation? Please align objectives with LMA’s Body of Knowledge. Core competencies include Business Development, the Business of Law, Client Services, Communications, Marketing Management and Leadership and Technology Management.
  • Specific takeaways: Tell us what attendees will be able to implement at their firms as a result of the presentation.
  • Speaker contact information and brief biography.
  • References: List two individuals who have either heard the specific presentation or can vouch for your ability to “wow” an audience.
Please send your submission by email to Peggy Heffner, Programming Chair, as a Word attachment. Keep your total proposal to no longer than two pages.
 
TIMELINE
  • Deadline for submissions is Wednesday, December 19, 2018.
  • Speakers will be contacted by Friday, January 11, 2019.
 HOW TO INCREASE YOUR ODDS OF BEING SELECTED
  • Include all of the requested information and follow the submission format.
  • Keep in mind this is an educational session. The speaking opportunity should not be used to sell a product or service.
  • Be specific. Tell us how you will engage and educate the audience.
  • What takeaways will they gain from your session?
  • Will there be a toolkit that attendees can take to their firms and implement?
  • Will the session be interactive?
PLEASE NOTE
A microphone(s) (if needed) and LCD projector will be available for your program. Please be prepared to use your own laptop. Should you choose to use a Mac, you will be responsible for providing a converter or any needed cable adapters.
