Your Honor Awards 2019 Member of the Year: Debra L. Henry

Debra L. Henry, Director of Marketing and Business Development at Gordon Feinblatt, is one of two members honored recently at the annual LMA Mid-Atlantic Regional Conference in Washington, D.C., on November 6, 2019. Debbie received the prestigious “Member of the Year” award.

Debbie, as she is known to many, is now in her third year of service for the Baltimore Local Steering Committee and has fulfilled a number of roles, such as taking the lead on local programming and sponsorships. Currently serving as the 2019 Baltimore Local Steering Committee Chair, Debbie’s brings great ideas to the table, supports of her fellow committee members, serves as a mentor to younger committee members, and puts the committee’s initiatives into action. To quote another committee member, “She works harder than anyone I know!”

Volunteering with LMA requires a significant investment of time and work. It means that we're sometimes simply checking off items on our to-do list, or just trying to get through the next program. Debbie, however, keeps the core mission at top of mind and continually focuses on providing value to the local membership.

Under Debbie’s leadership, the Baltimore Local Steering Committee provided excellent programming, recruited new members, and explored ways to reach out to the legal marketing peers outside the City of Baltimore. She has inspired those serving on the committee to remain dedicated and focused. Her enthusiasm and commitment to the membership is contagious.

When she's not wearing her LMA hat, Debbie works as Director of Marketing and Business Development at Gordon Feinblatt. An experienced marketing and public relations professional, Debbie enjoys the challenges of working in the demanding legal industry and enjoys that no two days are ever the same. She understands that the quality of communication and work product must exceed the status quo. Client satisfaction is a top priority for Debbie, balancing both the expectations of the firm's clients and her lawyers.

Prior to entering the legal marketing industry, Debbie interned for The Baltimore Orioles and Baltimore Gas & Electric while earning her communications degree at the Notre Dame of Maryland University. Outside of the office, Debbie balances raising two young sons with her husband, and teaching dance, which has been a passion of hers for 20 years.

To quote Debbie, “At the end of every day, I hope that I have ‘danced’ well and lived one of my favorite quotes from John Wesley, ‘Do all the good you can, by all the means you can, in all the ways that you can, in all the places you can, at all the times you can, to all the people you can, as long as ever you can!’”
