It’s hard to believe that the holiday season is already upon us and that 2019 is quickly drawing to a close. It seems like just yesterday I was penning my first President’s Message, and here I find myself drafting my last. We are fresh on the heels of our wildly successful second annual LMA Mid-Atlantic Regional Conference, where I was thrilled to see so many familiar and new faces in attendance, supported by our loyal sponsors and planned by a rockstar conference committee.
Our region continues to flourish with record-breaking membership numbers, innovative program offerings, and social events ripe with networking opportunities for new and seasoned members alike. I can’t think of a prouder moment than applauding all that the Mid-Atlantic Region has accomplished so far this year.
A critical component of our regional conference is in hosting the LMA Mid-Atlantic Your Honor Awards, a time in which we showcase the great work being done by individuals and teams in pursuit of inspiring initiatives focused on various components of legal marketing, business development, and client service. In this issue, our award winners in each of six categories are interviewed, allowing you as the reader to glimpse further into what made their submissions stand out from the crowd. There are some truly amazing people acting as true change agents in our region, and we can all learn from their bold new ideas and penchant for changing the legal marketing landscape for the better.
In this issue of our LMA Mid-Atlantic Newsletter, our authors tackle a multitude of topics, including the keys to mindfulness in the workplace, tips and tricks for mid-career professionals looking to elevate their roles, executive presence in speaking engagements, highlights from some of our enigmatic local programming this fall and a few recaps from the regional conference, and much more. Read on, and I assure you, you will come away with applicable tips and tricks to apply in your roles within your firms, right away.
As the year draws to a close, I pass the gavel to the very capable hands of your 2020 Mid-Atlantic Region President, Rachel Shields Williams. Rachel is an innately kind and empathetic leader, and one of the most inspiring people I know; I can say, without reservation, that her leadership will impact our region in the most positive of ways. As always, I encourage you to reach out to me during the remainder of the year to share your thoughts and ideas on improve our region’s offerings for its most important audience – YOU, the members. It was a pleasure serving you in 2019.
Happy Holidays and Cheers,
2019 LMA Mid-Atlantic Region President
