President's Message - Transformations - Diana Kroner

I am a sucker for makeover shows.  Whether it be new clothes, losing weight, or house remodeling, I love to see the journey someone takes to transform a part of his or her life.

One of my major transformation moments happened four years ago at just about this time of year. When I came back from my last maternity leave, I made the resolution to give back to the community and become more involved in LMA.  Thanks to a very well-timed email when I returned to work, the opportunity presented itself to join one of the Chapter's roundtables.  The rest, you could say, is history.

Participation in a committee or on the Board can truly transform your LMA experience - I know it has mine.  If you have considered becoming more involved in the Chapter, hopefully this will be your "well-timed email."  The LMA Capital Chapter is now accepting nominations for the 2011 Chapter Board of Directors. Nomination forms and criteria can be found on ourChapter website.  We encourage the participation and service of a diverse cross-section of our Chapter's membership and hope you will consider applying.

Transformation also can be about differentiation. In this issue's installment of "Getting Ahead," we explore how social media can help you differentiate and raise the profile of your firm and yourself in the marketplace.

Learn to transform the way you manage your email in our August webinar, "Power Processing Your Email."  We are very pleased to offer our first chapter webinar after receiving feedback from our members about offering different program formats.  Please let us know your feedback so we may continue to deliver high level programming.

Over the last several months, the Capital Chapter has been on a journey as well to transform our newsletter-from the way it is produced and delivered, to the way it looks and reads.  As a result, today we are excited to introduce the redesign of Capital Ideas.  Special thanks to Elaine Noble, partner and creative director of Noble Pursuits, who lent her creativity and technical skills to redesign and program this newsletter on our new platform.  Elaine is a long-time active member of LMA and the communications committee.  We will continue to bring updated enhancements to the newsletter in the coming months, but hope you find the new design appealing and the format more reader-friendly.

Transformation is happening everywhere.  May this summer be the start of your journey!

I look forward to seeing you at our upcoming events!
