Call for Speakers: 2016 Programming Calendar - Deadline October 30th

Each year, the Metropolitan Philadelphia Chapter works to produce high-quality, timely programming for legal marketing professionals in the Delaware Valley region.  Our monthly lunch programs routinely draw capacity crowds at various locations around Philadelphia.  Attendees range from entry-level specialists to senior leaders from law firm marketing departments, consultants and service providers, and are responsible for the development and management of marketing policy and strategy in their law firms and companies.  Our chapter has earned a reputation for stellar, high-quality programs, and we are seeking speakers for our 2016 programming calendar consistent with this track record of excellence.

LMA MPC programming typically occurs the third Thursday of every month (excluding May, July, August and December), at a venue near the Center City business district.  Our goal for 2016 is to provide a variety of fresh, robust programs, which provide the best learning experience for attendees, and that:

  • Address current trends in legal marketing and business development;
  • Present knowledgeable and dynamic speakers who engage the audience;
  • Provide useful takeaways for attendees;
  • Address people who are junior, mid-level or senior; and
  • Address issues of small, medium and large firms.

We are in search of programs that will be relevant to an audience seeking to increase value for their clients, both internally and externally. Programs should be solution-oriented, proactive in nature, and innovative, focusing on legal marketing (including business development and communications) as a vital part of the law firm’s business landscape.

Proposed sessions should be structured using one of the following formats:

  • Panels: two to four speakers with a moderator in a conversational format
  • Workshops: led by one or two people and highly interactive, and will include worksheets and other in-session activities
  • Case Studies: led by one or two people who will present, by giving real-life examples, a study on an idea that was brought to fruition.

Proposals should include the following information:

  • Title and presentation abstract (please limit to 500 words)
  • Educational objectives. What will attendees learn from the presentation?  Please keep in mind the LMA Core Competencies
  • Specific takeaways. Tell us what attendees will be able to implement at their firms as a result of the presentation.
  • Contact information and brief biography, including relevant experience, for everyone involved in the presentation.
  • References. List individuals who have either heard the specific presentation or can vouch for your ability to “wow” an audience.

Please remit your submission to in a Word file. Keep your total proposal to no longer than two pages.

Deadline for submissions is Friday, October 30, 2015

Selections will be announced by Friday, November 20, 2015

A few suggestions on how to improve your chances of being selected:

  • Be sure to include all of the requested information.
  • Keep in mind this is an educational conference. The speaking opportunity should not be used to sell a product or service.
  • Be specific. Tell us how you will engage and educate your audience.
  • What takeaways will they gain from your session?
    • Will there be a toolkit that attendees can take to their firms and implement‐‐immediately?
    • Will the session be interactive?

A microphone(s) (if needed) and LCD projector will be available for your program. Please be prepared to use your own laptop. Should you choose to use a Mac, you will be responsible for providing a converter or any needed cable adapters.
