Talking ‘Bout My Generation

We are going to be talking about generational differences this month, and the considerations we should be taking as we try to market and communicate across them.  Within our law firms we know that our lawyers, from the most junior first-year associate to the biggest rainmaker senior partner, all have different needs, different styles, and find value in different activities.

This sounds very similar to our LMA membership.  Fortunately, our organization is structured to address the needs of a wide variety of individuals, whether you are new to the working world and the industry, a seasoned professional new to the industry, or a been-there-done-that kind of legal marketer.  Within the Capital Chapter alone we have eight different leadership committees, the Future Leaders SIG, the Senior Leaders Roundtable, and the Baltimore City Group, to address the different needs of our members.

Looking beyond the Capital Chapter, LMA National offers seven shared interest groups where you can connect with like-minded peers.  In addition, there are several social media resources to help you connect with your fellow legal marketers; check out the LMA LinkedIn page to find different groups that may be of interest to you (and don’t forget to follow the Capital Chapter while you’re there!).  Of course, there are also tons of LMA’ers to connect with on Twitter, Facebook, blogs, etc.

Whatever legal marketing generation you find yourself in, I hope that you have been able to take advantage of some of these resources this year.  If you haven’t, I have good news for you. We still have a few months left in the year and some very exciting programming and networking opportunities planned.  Please join us for our discussion of generational differences in September, and in October we are very pleased to present our annual half-day program which will address the client experience from top to bottom.  This is going to be a fun, interactive program that will suit the needs of all legal marketers, no matter what generation you find yourself in.

Rock on.
