David W. Brezina Memorial General Session
“Broken Eyes, Unbroken Spirit”
Wednesday, May 20
9:15 – 10:15 am
David Meador is a visually impaired champion golfer who believes that becoming a champion in life and business means you’ve got to find new ways of seeing and thinking. Meador shifts from golf clubs to barstools to dramatize unique lessons taught by 48 years of total blindness. He will take you to a place where sight is secondary, decisions stand out bright and clear, and you learn how your limitations can become your best allies.
A four–time National Blind Golf Champion, David is a retired Northwestern Mutual Sales Rep, a national speaker, two–time cancer survivor and author of Broken Eyes, Unbroken Spirit. He lost his sight in an automobile accident during his freshman year of college. Nevertheless, he went on to earn degrees at Southern Illinois University and Loyola University in Chicago.
Before moving to motivational speaking, David was a 20–year career sales rep with Northwestern Mutual in Nashville, Tennessee, where despite total blindness, he turned in at least one paid application each week for 572 weeks in a row, setting the agency record for consecutive weeks of production. Meador is past–president of the United States Blind Golf Association, a four–time National Champion, and the 2013 recipient of the Ben Hogan Award presented at The Masters.
