Submit Your Application for the Presidents' Gift by Dec. 5, 2013

LMA's current president, immediate-past president and president-elect have come together to provide a new grant program for first-time attendees of the LMA Annual Conference: the Presidents' Gift.

As part of the Presidents' Gift grant program, LMA will select one legal marketing and business development industry professional to receive complimentary annual conference registration as well as admittance to a pre-conference program of their choosing at the annual conference or complimentary registration for the QuickStart Online Course (an excellent program covering the 10 core competencies of legal marketing).  Please review the details of this program and submission guidelines below to see if this grant program may be an appropriate opportunity for you.

Submissions are being accepted now.

The deadline for submissions is Thursday, Dec. 5, 2013.

Who should apply:

LMA’s Presidents’ Gift is for those in transition between jobs, new LMA members, those new to our legal marketing community who have not attended a conference before, those in small firms with no budget to attend, etc.

Why you should apply:

The program provides industry education for professional growth in the exhibitions and events industry and helps program participants become better, more productive employees.

The selected applicant will receive one full, complimentary registration to LMA’s 2014 Annual Conference in Orlando, Fla. (April 2-4, 2014) as well as their choice between complimentary registration for a pre-conference program or the QuickStart Online Course. In addition, the grant recipient will be recognized throughout the annual conference.

This total package is worth nearly $2,000.  Note that the grant recipient is responsible for their own transportation, hotel and any incidental costs accrued, including additional in-room or additional conference activity costs.

How to apply:

Please download the Presidents' Gift application, which contains two short, straightforward sections: 1) basic professional information and 2) either your essay or a link to your YouTube video submission per the guidelines below.  Note that if the grant recipient submits a video as part of the application, that video may be used publicly and at the conference.

Whether you choose to write an essay or create a video, all applicants must answer three of the four questions below:

  • What influenced you to join the legal marketing and business development community?
  • What is your proudest accomplishment to this day?
  • What do you hope to take away from LMA’s 2014 Annual Conference?
  • As a future legal marketing leader, what area/s do you deem necessary for future success in this competitive marketplace?

Submissions will be assessed on:

  • How you will apply conference learning to your workplace
  • Demonstrated thoughts on how your attendance will contribute to the LMA community

Submit your completed Presidents' Gift application to no later than Thursday, Dec. 5, 2013.

LMA’s 2013 immediate past president (Alycia Sutor), president (Aleisha Gravit) and president-elect (Tim Corcoran) will review the applications and YouTube submissions/essays.  The selected grant recipient of the Presidents' Gift will be announced in January 2014.
