Marketing: From the Attorney’s Perspective

A recent LMA and Bloomberg Law study on legal marketing trends revealed that in 2018, 65 percent of legal marketers described their relationship with attorneys as “challenging at times.” The difference in how attorneys view marketing and how marketing professionals view attorneys is an important one. A better understanding of how attorneys and marketers think is necessary to improve relationships and ensure that both lawyers and marketers can be of service to each other as they work to move projects forward.
In May’s brownbag session, we’ll get the attorney’s perspective on topics such as:
  • Communication styles: how do attorneys prefer to receive information?
  • Information and assistance: what do attorneys want to know and when do they need assistance?
  • Different perspectives: how do attorneys see marketing and vice versa?
  • Relationship building: how can you best become a trusted advisor to attorneys? How can you show attorneys what you can do?

Our speaker is Azeema Batchelor, an attorney who spent 5 years in the practice of law before embarking on her legal marketing career, where she’s happily spent the last decade. She has held numerous positions at various AmLaw100 firms in New York and DC and currently leads the business development and marketing efforts for the Private Client practice group at McDermott Will & Emery.
