About Our Panelists

Jose CunninghamJosé Cunningham, Chief Marketing and Business Development Officer, Nixon Peabody LLP
José previously served in similar positions at Crowell & Moring and Shaw Pittman. He is a globally minded client development and marketing executive with experience living and working in more than 40 countries. As a former Foreign Service Officer and sales professional he currently applies persuasive communications, negotiations, and management acumen in the international legal industry, with a reputation as a results-focused and effectual leader with a proven ability and talent for motivating diverse teams and building relationships. José began his professional career as an analyst for the U.S. Department of Defense, researching and reporting on Soviet and Eastern European political and military developments. He then went on to work for the U.S. Department of State as a Foreign Service Officer assigned to Berlin, Germany, as the ambassador’s aide and vice-consul. José is Chairman of the DC Republican Party, and serves as co-chair of the Legal Marketing Association's Diversity & Inclusion Committee.

Lia DorseyLia Dorsey, Director of Diversity and Inclusion, Eversheds Sutherland (US) LLP
Lia collaborates with the executive committee and other key partners to develop and implement the firm’s diversity and inclusion strategic plan. She works across various departments to expand the firm’s efforts in the recruitment, development, promotion and retention of diverse groups of attorneys. Lia is also a thought leader in the movement to improve diversity and inclusion at law firms. She was recently elected Vice President of the Board of Directors for the Association of Law Firm Diversity Professionals, and serves on the newly-formed Legal Marketing Association’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee and its Advocacy Task Force. She also speaks at conferences and seminars across the country, volunteers in the community, and supports several philanthropic organizations. Prior to her career in the legal industry, Lia was a top-producing sales executive.

Kathryn Holmes JohnsonKathryn Holmes Johnson, Director of Marketing and Communications, Sterne, Kessler, Goldstein & Fox P.L.L.C.
Kathryn is responsible for developing and executing strategic marketing and PR initiatives for the 130-attorney, IP specialty firm in Washington, DC. During her legal career, Kathryn has worked in marketing communications at a who’s-who of AmLaw firms, including serving as the director of communications for both Akin Gump and Crowell & Moring. At Nixon Peabody, she held the position of senior marketing manager, where she oversaw a six-member regional marketing team responsible for all of the firm's localized marketing programs, both domestic and international. Kathryn has played a key role in the diversity programs at the four firms where she has worked, including her current tenure on Sterne Kessler's Diversity Committee.

Prior to becoming President of the Advisory Practice, Sophia joined MCCA in 2016 as Senior Counsel, Director of Education and Research. Before joining MCCA, Sophia was Vice President, Assistant General Counsel at JP Morgan Chase in the Consumer & Community Banking Regulatory, Operations and Controls Legal Group, where she provided legal oversight to Chase Card Services, Mortgage Bank, Auto Finance, and Student Lending, Business Banking, and Global Wealth Management, and managed the outside counsel relationships on behalf of these lines of business. Sophia also practiced as a litigation attorney at Seyfarth Shaw LLP where she represented clients in commercial and construction-related litigation. Sophia is a graduate of University of Wisconsin, with a B.A. degree in International Relations. She received her law degree from New York Law School where she served as the United Nations Editor for the New York Law School Journal of Human Rights.

WALK-IN POLICY:
Walk-ins are welcome as space permits. Cash or checks made payable to "LMA Mid-Atlantic Region" will be accepted at the door.

CANCELLATION POLICY:
Any cancellations made before April 27 will be fully refunded. All cancellations made after that date will be billed in full. Registrations may be transferred, however price differences between member and non-members will be billed accordingly.
