Burton Taylor will present a case for why our law firm marketing departments should look at public relations through a different lens. Too often, media relations is thought of as a community affairs function of a business, but in the law firm environment -- where the products we are selling are the attorneys who work for our firms -- public relations can be an effective business development tool. Taylor's presentation will highlight that we are not in PR for PR's sake, but we are engaged in public relations to achieve very specific outcomes – namely to generate new business for the firm.
This presentation will focus on both quantifiable measures and case studies that demonstrate the value strategic media relations efforts can add to a firm’s business development outcomes. The key takeaways will be concrete examples of how business development managers can rely on their colleagues in PR to achieve media visibility, thought leadership and third party endorsements to drive your firm's larger business development strategy. More specifically, the presentation will demonstrate ways in which effective public relations can not only result in credible collateral pieces that enhance your firm's reputation (and marketing materials), but also help your firm cultivate entirely new relationships with prospective clients.
