Our October brownbag will focus on how newer legal marketers’ understanding of these basic MBA principles can help you add value in your marketing role. We'll address topics including:

  • Basic ways to develop a budget with an attorney – especially when you don’t have a lot to work with
  • The role of accounting
  • Partner compensation structures and how they affect certain pricing arrangements
  • RFP pricing/fee arrangements
  • Practice group client development budgets
  • Putting together pricing proposals and crunching numbers without losing your firm's edge
  • Managing matters to win work

Our speaker, Nick Zinn, is a Strategic Pricing Manager at Covington & Burling. Nick is a recovering attorney who now uses his knowledge and experience on the marketing side. After working several years as an attorney in the Midwest, Nick earned his MBA from the University of Michigan's Ross School of Business and headed east. He understands the importance of project management, financing, and accounting in any business. Combined with his lawyer background, Nick brings a complete perspective to the brownbag.

The Future Leaders Shared Interest Group serves in-house legal marketers with fewer than five years of legal marketing experience by providing them with support, mentorship, peer networking opportunities, and relevant training. The group meets monthly, hosting specialized programs designed to meet the challenges faced by newer legal marketers and social happy hours where members can connect. All cancellations made after that date will be billed in full. Registrations may be transferred, however price differences between member and non-members will be billed accordingly.
