Welcome to 2021, LMA Boston!

Happy New Year! Like many of you, I was delighted to put 2020 in the rearview mirror, and am looking ahead to better times in 2021. While last year held many challenges, I am grateful that we were able to continue to provide Legal Marketing Association (LMA) members with quality programming, support and camaraderie during an unprecedented pandemic. As a professional organization, LMA has always prided itself on being there for its members in good times and in bad times. That may never have been more true than in 2020. Together, we persevere, conquer and rise.

As we embark on a shiny new year, I want to introduce myself as Chair of LMA’s Boston Local Steering Committee (BLSC) and your “go-to” contact. The BLSC is comprised of an impressive group of professionals, all of whom are dedicated to helping LMA members thrive through educational programming, social events, membership engagement, networking and knowledge sharing. For at least the first half of the year, we will continue all of these activities virtually, but we hope to resume in-person events as soon as it is safe to do so.

As a volunteer-based organization, we rely on an active membership (keyword is "active") to effectively represent the interests and maintain the professional standards of those in the legal marketing and business development industry. There are so many ways for you to be involved in a way that suits your schedule, such as participating on subcommittees (Programming, Communications, Membership and Sponsorship) or attending our programs, social events and SIG meetings. In fact, we are still seeking volunteers to help us with Sponsorships and lead the LMANext SIG. I encourage you to reach out to me if you are interested in learning more.

Whether you are a seasoned law firm business development professional, a relatively new legal marketing professional, a valued service provider, or anything in between, the BLSC and I are here to ensure that you are able to take full advantage of your LMA membership.
As we start a new year, I suggest the following:

  • Log in and update your LMA online profile.
  • Take advantage of peer-to-peer interaction by joining one of our Shared Interest Groups (SIGs). In Boston, we have “LMANext (Future Leaders),” “Small Firm” and “Experienced Marketer” SIGs. These groups and our other programming are truly some of the best benefits of your LMA membership.

I look forward to “seeing you” at our local programs including our first event of 2021 -- Stress Management and Mindfulness for Law Firm Professionals on January 28. Watch your inbox for the invitation.

Until then, please stay healthy and happy. Brighter days are ahead, and we look forward to celebrating them with you!
