President's Message

Dear members:

It’s surprising that the end of 2020 is within arm’s reach. At times, this year, the days felt like they went on forever, but also it feels like March ended just a few days ago. Reflecting on my term as your Mid-Atlantic president feels strange as it seems like just yesterday I was writing my first president’s message, but here we are gearing up to say goodbye to 2020.

Thank you to every member who gave freely of their time and energy to LMA. Whether it was a volunteer role, attending an event, reading an email, or engaging with the region online – thank you.

And thank you for allowing me to be your regional leader in a year that held unexpected surprises around every corner. This year has given the gift of personal growth to all of us, which is never easy while going through it, but we come out the other side better for it. We will be a stronger region for going through this year together. We are more agile, cost-effective, and dynamic than ever before, and that will stay with us as we hopefully return to the office in 2021.

I hope to see you all soon in person; in the interim, thank you for the privilege of being your 2020 president. Although it’s not the year I had planned for, it’s a year that has shown me how amazing we are as an organization and how proud I am of the members of LMA’s Mid-Atlantic Region. If I can ever be of service or a listening ear, please reach out to me.

With heartfelt gratitude,

Rachel Shields Williams
