Midwest Region's President Note

Transition is hard, and change can be scary. But often, change brings us to even better places than we were before.

With regionalization, we were asked to think bigger and better and different. To take something that was already working and expand it for all of our members - including into some areas of the Midwest that have never previously been served by an LMA chapter. The Midwest Region Board of Directors and the Local Steering Committee leaders have been hard at work on this. It hasn’t always been easy; but, two months into the new LMA Midwest Region, I can already tell that it’s going to be great. That we are going to be able to take the best parts of each chapter and create an even better region for the benefit of our nearly 650 members.

I am lucky (and honored) to serve as your Regional President. In this role, I have been able to meet and work with members from across the region I would not have met or worked with otherwise. And I am humbled. Everyone has been willing to jump in and help out, no matter what the task is. You are willing to share your experiences, processes, and ideas in order to positively impact our regional members. The friendships that have been formed and the connections that have been made are truly remarkable. Because, at the end of the day, that is what LMA is about. The programming is great, and the knowledge gained enables us to more effectively do our jobs. But it’s the support and sharing – the people and what they are willing to contribute - that really gives us a leg-up.

As the annual conference approaches, I encourage all of you to reach out and connect with members of the region you may not have previously met. For those who are attending the annual conference, a great time to do this would be at the Midwest Region Social on Monday, March 27. at 5:00 p.m. at the Lift Bar at ARIA [LINK]. If you are not attending the annual conference, I hope you can join us for the Legal Marketing Technology Conference - Midwest (“Collaboration that Works”) in Chicago on September 25 and 26. And you can always join us on social media, by following @LMAMidwest on Twitter or Facebook.

We are hard at work to bring new and exciting things to the region in 2017, which we’ll be rolling out throughout the year. I look forward to working with you as we establish the LMA Midwest Region and hope to see many of you at our events.

If you have any questions, please feel free to email me.

Best Regards,

Taryn Elliott
