Midwest President's Message: An update on programming and Tech Midwest

LMA Midwest Members and Friends:

I’d like to share the wishes from the LMA Midwest Region Board, our Local Steering Committee Leadership, and all of your LMA Midwest volunteers, that you and your loved ones are weathering this crisis safely and in good health.

As you have no doubt seen from the communications you’ve received over the last month, LMA is not immune to the repercussions from our current crisis. Our first and primary priority remains the safety of our members and friends—and we base all of our decisions around that principle.

Local Steering Committee Programming

The LMA Midwest Board has recommended that all Local Steering Committees postpone any in-person programming to after June 30. We will continue to reference the guidance available to us from the WHO, CDC, and state agencies in determining when we can launch in-person events. We’ll communicate regularly with you and keep you informed on our latest thinking.

Our LSCs have risen to the occasion, and I am so grateful for their understanding and flexibility—and for yours as well! Our LSCs will be offering virtual programming region-wide. These programs will be complimentary (free!) to members and will have a minimal cost of $20 for non-members. Sponsorship opportunities—with great reach throughout our region—are available for our virtual programming as well.

LMA Tech Midwest

These developments, of course, affect LMA Tech Midwest. We have canceled the in-person conference and are exploring other ways to provide engagement virtually in 2020. Co-chairs Nathan Jenks and Richard Marsolais are hard at work on alternative ways to provide the OUTSTANDING programming that the LMA Tech Midwest committee had developed. Please look out for additional information from us in the coming weeks—we’re excited to flex our creativity in finding ways that our members, speakers, sponsors, and friends will receive the value they’ve come to expect from the LMA Tech Midwest conference.

Questions and Comments

If there’s anything we can do to help you while you deal with this crisis, professionally or personally, please reach out to me or any member of the LMA Midwest Board.

Best wishes for a healthy and safe month ahead.
