Meet Jeannette Riendeau! Jeannette is the recipient of the 2017 Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly "Excellence in the Law" award for marketing.
What’s the greatest bit of advice a parent or mentor has given you?
My mother always says, “Be patient, this too shall pass.” Whenever I’m facing a difficult challenge or I’m frustrated by a situation out of my control, I try and remember my mom’s advice. I do believe everything happens for a reason, and if you are patient, everything will work out the way it is supposed to.
If you weren’t in Legal Marketing, what would you be doing instead?
If I were not in Legal Marketing, I think I would be a high school or middle school history teacher. I love history shows and podcasts and my favorite teachers in school were the history teachers that told stories rather than just reciting facts and dates. Often, when I learn something new about a period in history, I can’t wait to share what I’ve learned with others.
What are three words others would use to describe you?
Passionate, Loyal, Resilient
What is something people would be surprised to learn about you?
In 2001, two of my very good friends were getting married and they asked me to preside over their wedding ceremony. Thanks to the magic of the internet, I was able to become an ordained minister and legally officiate their wedding. Since that time, I have been an officiant at weddings for dozens of friends in six different states.
What is your favorite travel destination and why?
I’ve been fortunate to travel my entire life and I have visited (and in some cases lived in) dozens of countries around the world, but my favorite destination has always been Prince Edward Island (PEI), Canada. The island is absolutely beautiful. My father’s family is originally from PEI and he still has a family home on the island. I have been going to PEI with my dad every summer for decades. Now my husband and daughter accompany us on our yearly trips and the island means so much to all of us.
