LMA West Cares: West Region Launches Charitable Giving Initiative

The legal marketing community is full of kind, compassionate people who truly want to do better in the world. The West Region is excited to announce the launch of its new charitable giving initiative, LMA West Cares. While the initiative will be region-wide, each local group has selected their own organization(s) to support. Stay tuned for more information from your local group regarding the how, what, when and where to donate.

  • The Bay Area Local Group will be supporting La Casa de Las Madres, an advocacy group for women who have been victims of domestic violence. La Casa de Las Madres responds to calls for help from domestic violence victims, of all ages, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The organization gives survivors the tools to transform their lives. It seeks to prevent future violence by educating the community and by redefining public perceptions about domestic violence.
  • The Los Angeles Local Group will be supporting the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank. Serving the community since 1973, the Food Bank's mission is to mobilize resources to fight hunger in our community and our vision is that no one goes hungry in Los Angeles County. The Food Bank is at the heart of a charitable food distribution network that includes 640 agencies with over 1,000 agency and program sites throughout Los Angeles County including abused and abandoned children homes, battered women shelters, senior centers, local food pantries, soup kitchens, AIDS hospices and more.
  • The Northwest Local Group has selected two organizations—one based in Portland and one based in Seattle—and will be collecting donation items for the Oregon Humane Society and PAWS.
    • Oregon Humane Society is the largest humane society in the Northwest and adopts more animals that any other single-facility shelter on the West Coast. OHS puts no time limits on how long animals remain in the shelter and a pet stays available for adoption for as long as needed to find a loving home.
    • PAWS is focused on animals throughout the state and is a champion for animals – rehabilitating injured and orphaned wildlife, sheltering and adopting homeless cats and dogs, and educating people to make a better world for animals and people.
  • The Southern California Local Group has selected two organizations dedicated to children services and will be supporting Make-a-Wish Orange County and the Monarch School of San Diego.
    • Since 1983, Make-A-Wish® Orange County and the Inland Empire has granted more than 6,000 wishes to children with critical illnesses living in Orange, San Bernardino and Riverside counties. A wish experience can be a game-change for a child with a critical illness is the belief and foundation for the Make-A-Wish foundation.
    • Monarch School has served San Diego for nearly three decades, beginning as a one-room education center and expanding into a K-12 comprehensive school designed to educate homeless youth. The barriers these students face hinder their ability to become contributing successful members of their families and society and place them at a high risk of becoming tomorrow’s homeless adults. Monarch School gives students the skills and tools to overcome these odds.
