Help those in need – Bring travel size toiletries & tote bags to Thursday's luncheon

LMANE New York wants you to help your fellow New Yorkers who are not as fortunate, starting with Thursday’s luncheon program.

We are asking that you bring travel size toiletriestote bag, and other reusable bags to the luncheon. The Membership Committee will then donate these life necessities to Philoxenia, Inc., a nonprofit organization run by our fellow member, Despina Kartson, dedicated to feeding and clothing the homeless.

Despina helps lead a monthly “Soup Run,” a program launched more than 11 years ago through Philoptochos, a chapter of the national women’s philanthropic organization affiliated with her church. On the last Thursday of every month, volunteers help distribute food, clothing, toiletries and other miscellaneous items to New York's homeless and low-income population. To see the impact your donation will have, please view this brief video

You can further assist by purchasing a copy of Despina’s memoir of stories about serving the hungry titled “Last Night’s Soup Run.” All profits from the book, which is available on Amazon, are donated to Philoxenia.

We look forward to your donations at this Thursday's LMANE NY program. Please drop off when you check in!

If you have any questions, please contact Amy Nielson or Willie Sleight.
