Kevin LaCroix of The D&O Diary writes that there are now a number of firms active in litigation funding in the U.S., with signs pointing toward these firms taking on an increasingly important role in the country's litigation scene. LaCroix cites Burford as a prime example of this, referencing several media reports and press releases focusing on the growth of the U.K.-based firm. He writes that such developments outside the U.S raise the question of what the growth and success of litigation funding may mean for litigation in the U.S.
