Meet Pallas Knight, Business Development Coordinator at Kobre & Kim LLP.

Pallas KnightWork History: Prior to relocating to New York from Australia and joining Kobre & Kim LLP in June 2007, I was the Marketing Manager at a large Australian law firm and before that I was a Project Manager in the Sales & Marketing department of LexisNexis for 3.5 years.  After university, I worked as the Media Operations Assistant for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) where I met Tony Blair and the King of Swaziland!

Where did you grow up or where have you lived?
I grew up in Cairns, Australia on the Great Barrier Reef, went to university in Brisbane and then lived in Sydney for 5 years before moving to New York 1 year ago

What was your first job?
Working on my father’s commercial fishing boat

How did you get into legal marketing?
I often ask myself that! I have always been very interested in the law but not interested in practicing law so this is the perfect job

What makes a good legal marketer?
Tenacity, a good sense of humor and lots of candy!

What would you be doing if you weren’t in your current job?
Ballerina

What’s the best thing about your job?
Working with such brilliant people and getting the opportunity to live in New York

What’s the worst thing about your job?
Trying to be brilliant to match the brilliant people I work with!

What’s the first thing you read in the morning?
The WSJ

What has been the most eye-opening difference or differences since transitioning from Australia to New York?
The metric system, the weather, being so far from my family, the food…

What would you tell someone who has never been to Australia that would entice them to go?
Australia is paradise (if you can endure the 25 hr plane trip, that is)

Subway, bus, taxi or walking?  What’s the best way you find for getting around the city?
All modes are good depending on where you are going, what time it is and how good you are at accepting new smells

Uptown, Midtown, Downtown, or the outer boroughs (Brooklyn, Queens, etc.) – where’s the best place to hang out with friends?
Downtown to go out, uptown to live

What’s your favorite restaurant or cuisine?

I have been to the most magnificent restaurants in the City – Aureole is just beautiful, Blue Ribbon for sushi, Raoul’s for French and Mary’s Fish Camp for the best lobster rolls ever!
