How local law firms outgrew Philadelphia

In 1997, virtually all of Fox Rothschild's lawyers were based in the Philadelphia region. A decade later, less than half of Fox Rothschild's lawyers were local, even as the firm grew locally from 133 to 197 lawyers.

Fox Rothschild is not alone. Many of Philadelphia's large, full-service law firms have expanded their headcount outside the city over the past decade, with the result that indigenous offices now employ lower percentages of the firms' total lawyers.
