Troubleshooting Tips:

Error Prompt: Error on password: Login incorrect:
Solution: You typed the password incorrectly. Try to log in again. Remember that your password is case sensitive. Check to see if the Caps Lock is on. We recommend that you use copy & paste to enter your password exactly as it appears.

Error Prompt: Logon failure:
Solution: You have not logged in properly. Most likely you didn't type a password or a username when logging in or you stopped the login process before it was complete. Try logging in again.

Error Prompt: Connection lost:
Solution: You are no longer connected to the FTP site. You’ll see this when you are using an FTP program.  Most likely this is because you have let the FTP program sit idle for too long. If you check your FTP program's preferences, you will probably see this option. Most programs have a short default time, so if you will be letting your program remain connected for long periods of time (not recommended), you may want to change this option. To correct this error, simply log in again.

If you connect even once, your FTP settings are correct. When the same settings connect only part of the time, the reason is usually a server that goes offline or busy traffic on the network. Try connecting at a different time of day.
