Reporting to and working closely with the Toronto Regional Client Development Manager, the Business Development Specialist will be responsible for co-ordinating and monitoring the firm’s RFP/pitch response program as well as keeping a variety of tracking reports and databases current.

Major Responsibilities & Duties:

·         Conducting and/or coordinating market and industry research as needed for customized proposals/presentations

·         Assisting with opportunity analysis including performing conflict searches and seeking appropriate approvals

·         Creating PowerPoint based pitch materials for in-person meetings

·         Assembling boilerplate and technical information from various sources

·         Ensuring timely delivery of final documents to client

·         Maintaining proposal archive for ongoing reference

·         Coordinating updates to boilerplate and technical documents including database of authorized representative work and legal professional biographies

·         Maintaining confidentiality of Firm, employee and client information.

Specific requirements

  • Applicants must have a bachelor's degree, with a minimum of 3 years of marketing experience within a large, professional services environment. Previous experience as a member of a larger proposal response team will be considered an asset.
  • general knowledge of how a law firm operates with an overall understanding of each practice group
  • proficiency with computers and all MS Office applications (especially Excel and PowerPoint)
  • superior written and verbal communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • communicate effectively with lawyers, professional level staff and peers
  • polished, professional writing style
  • analytical skills and attention to detail
  • project management skills with ability to multi-task, effectively prioritize and meet deadlines
  • act with a high degree of integrity and maintain confidentiality
  • flexibility with work hours is required (including ability to work overtime)
