Under immediate supervision of the Office Partner-in-Charge and Business Development Chair, and under the general supervision of the Global Director of Business Development & Communications, and following prescribed Office and Firm procedures, the Office Business Development & Communications Manager is responsible for providing support for local business development activities, including, but not limited to:
· Pitches, presentations and responses to RFPs
· Client base analysis
· Updating the office’s page(s) on the Jones Day web site
· Civic projects
· Communication of Firm and office business development resources to lawyers
· Coordination/communication with Firmwide Business Development & Communications
· Coordination of selected seminars, receptions, and special events
· Coordination with Production Services
· Corporate gifts
· Industry and company research
· Mailing lists
· Market research
· Presentation development, including PowerPoint
· Publications distribution
· Special projects, as required
The position involves working closely with Partners resident in the office, coordinating with other offices around the globe, as well as serving as liaison with the Firmwide Business Development & Communications Department to facilitate Firmwide business development initiatives and objectives and to support the Firm's strategy. The Manager is expected to perform all job duties with a commitment to providing superior service to clients, producing quality work products, and maintaining an atmosphere of teamwork and continuous improvement.
Specific requirements
- Bachelor's degree and at least five years' experience in a business environment
- Experience in legal or professional services marketing preferred
- Organization and time management skills
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, and see projects through
- Ability to work with a wide range of people in a team setting
- Ability to establish effective internal and external working relationships
