Winstead PC seeks a Group Marketing Manager for its Houston office. This position will develop and execute marketing projects, programs and processes in support of multiple practice groups, industry teams, client teams and office efforts on a wide range of marketing and business development opportunities. This is a position that requires a high level of proficiency in both strategic level activities and hands-on tactical execution.
This individual will be required to work closely with attorneys and other team members to accomplish the primary goal of helping our firm and attorneys attract profitable new business. Significant responsibility and autonomy will be afforded candidates who demonstrate independent judgment, strategic and diplomatic thinking and the ability to function effectively at several levels. This position will report primarily to the Chief Marketing Officer and involve other marketing colleagues on relevant projects.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
1. Developing group and attorney strategic marketing plans;
2. Developing, managing and following up on practice group, industry group, client team marketing initiatives, evaluating and providing feedback for initiatives proposed by lawyers and managing project specific budgets;
3. Building RFP responses and proactive client proposals;
4. Coaching attorneys on successful business development techniques;
5. Managing internal and external practice group events, sponsorships and other marketing and communications activities;
6, Providing ongoing business development research and analysis for the assigned groups;
7. Drafting, maintaining and updating of marketing collateral;
8. Working with the firm's PR Manager in identifying PR opportunities for assigned groups;
9. Assisting with additional firm wide marketing projects as needed;
10. Some travel may be required.
Specific requirements
- 1. Experience working with partners and senior executives in a professional services firm.
- 2. Excellent listening and interviewing skills.
- 3. Strong interpersonal skills.
- 4. Must be process-oriented with the ability to gather and synthesize information.
- 5. Understanding of the legal industry - market opportunities, competition, service offerings and competitive advantages.
- 6. Superior organizational skills, attention to detail and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- 7. Exceptional written and verbal skills with strong proofreading and grammar skills.
- 8. An ability to comprehend and address client's issues from both a business and a legal services perspective.
- 9. A reputation for partnering with internal clients and a demonstrated open, collaborative style.
- 10. Ability to prioritize workload, work independently and complete tasks under time pressure when necessary.
- 11. Strong computer skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite of products. Knowledge of InterAction is a plus.
- 12. Bachelor's Degree preferred. Military service a plus.
- 13. Four to six years experience in law firm or professional services marketing.
- 14. Must be flexible and organized with the ability to deal with many different personalities, multiple demands, and the pressure of meeting deadlines are highly important.
- 15. Excellent presentation and political acumen.
